Peg 4. Sohwt Dlgmet. Thursday. June B, $M EDTORALS COMMENTS OPNONS t Needs To Be Sad by the Mystery Wrt hen the gong gets tough, the tough gets gong. gong can't get much tougher. Whatever makes tmes tough, our communtry has ts share. Wth all the problems facng our communty, there s one factor common to all the problems, that factor lack of home tranng. t has been sad by many: there s nothng that can oe done wth east Lubbock Blacks, 5 to 40 years old. That our only hope s to work hard wth those under 2. Ths f good, but t's lke takng a bath wth your clothes on, you can show drty water and some odor s removed, but underneath drty and odor s stll there. The Boys Club, Lttle League and all the organzatons can go all out provdng that chld wth sportsmanshp, team play, hygene and the many other worthwhle aspects of lfe they nstll. However, as wth school, one hour of home envronment can run an all day sesson at the Boys Club, etc. Home lfe must reeforce the tranng and good character learned elsewhere. What good s t to have rules aganst profanty at the Boys Club when profanty n the home s used lke the ar we breathe. Are we helpng the chld when the communty pays for ther partcpaton n actvtes whle the parents spend ther money on drugs, alcohol and bngo. Yes. there s a catch 22 to ths, why punsh the chld for the sns of the parent? As t cks, we are caught n the stuaton of beng conce d about our youth whle ther parents st dly by conce ed about other thngs. Food, clothng and shelter s only one pece of the pe of parental responsblty. Sprtual, moral, respect, self worth and many other peces must he nstlled to complete the pe. Too many of our chldren are growng lke weeds n a feld and the concerned people who work wth them are temporarly prunng them, but a weed s a weed. Parents must take on the responsblty for ther chldren. Any parent who states: they can't do anythng wth a chld born of them, should be shot at sunrse. f you nstll the parentchld relatonshp even at 40, 50 years old, that chld wll stl need your words. But too many parents thnk the toddler's antcs are cute and funny, that the pre schooler s gong through a perod of adjustment and the chld n elementary s mnsunderstood. Well try these: what makes you laugh can make you cry. Spare the rtfb spol the chld. What you sow, so shall you reap. f that youth wll not lsten and mnd ther parent, can not be controlled by the parent, do not show respect for the parent and has no responsblty wthn the home, what type adult wll they be? Rasng the chld s the foundaton for adulthood. Wth a good foundaton, they wll not collapse as adults. Our prs s are flled wth young Black men and women, the drug users among our young Blacks s epdemc n numbers, and Black chldren havng chldren s way too hgh. The reason s smple, they are not gettng the foundaton as a chld wthn the home to be able to cope and survve n the so called straght world. Blacks can no long r be part tme parents, we must return to full tme patents. We must not spare the rod, we must be frm wth dscplne, we must become nvolved wth the actvtes our chldren partcpate n, they must learn responsblty wthn the home. Wth home tranng, program such as Boys Clubs, Lttle League wll be the reenfor sment that shows the chm that outsde the home requre the same stck to t ness of teh rules as wthn Southwest Dgest P.O. Our church s located at 464 North Front Street. Sunday School was well served as Drector Harrs and her class workers were on the movo for the Lord. Keep up the good work. The mornng worshp hour was food for the soul as Pastor Eugene Gentry spoke from Chroncles 22:8 4 9, where he gathered the thought: Let's Arse And Buld The Lord's House. Pastor Gentry advocated that the seed of progress must be planted n the lves of the youth of ths age. f there s to be a future for them. He also sad Chrstan characters must be motvated n them as a way of lfe style. Last week was a glorous tme for the Gallee Church whch hosted the Sunday School and B. T. U. Congress of the Caprock Dstrct Assocaton. We had a wonderful tme n ths Congress Sesson. Pastor Gentry gave words of apprecaton to all who worked so dlgently for the cause May God bless you all. We, the members of Gallee do trust that each Dstrct Congress Sessons was a blessed one. Our prayers go out to all who we are duty bound to pray for n tmes lke these. From The Pastor's Desk No matter how well leaders may prepare, many servces are seroulsy handcapped by the ndfferent or unntellgent atttude of the assembled company. Ths shows tself n laughter, talkng, restlessness, falure to jon worshppfully n the sngng, md by a general str whch nterferes wth those who try to gve reverent attenton. Often t takes ten mnutes or more to change ths atmosphere and sometmes t seems mpossble to generate a real sprt of worshp throughout the entre servce. Con on Pagt 8 GRACE We beleve as Jesus Chrst whch was taken nto heaven shall so come n lke manner as was seen to go nto heaven-bo- dl y, personally and vsbly; and that the dead n Chrst shall rse frst; and that the lvng sants shall all be changed fn a moment, n the twnklng of an eye, at the last trump and we wll go to heaven to ever be wth the Lord. HE S SOON COMNG BODLY FOR HS SANTS.. Ths s promsed by the Holy Sprt through 3 wtnesses. Frst, we have the wtness of Chrst Hmself. He says n John 4:3 And f go and prepare a place for you, wll come agan, and receve you unto myself; that where am, there ye may be also. Secondly, we have the wtness of the angels n Acts : Whch also sad, Ye men of Gallee, why stand ye gazng up nto heaven? ths same Jesus, whch s taken up from you nto heaven, shall so come n lke manner as ye have seen hm go nto heaven. Thrdly, we have the wtness of the apostle Paul who says n Thessalonlans 4:6 For the Lord hmself shall descend from heaven. 2. Hs comng wll be suddenly. Jesus says n Matthew 24:27 For as the' ghtnlng cometh out of the east, and shtneth even unto the west; so shall also the comng of the Son of man be. 3. Tha day a'nd hour of Hs comng s not known. Matthew 25:3 says Watch therefore, for ye know nether the day nor the hour wheren the Son of man cometh. Jesus says n Matthew 24:36 and 42 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 4. We should be lookng for Hs comng soon. James 5:8 says Be ye also patent; stablsh your hearts: for the comng of the Lord draweth ngh. Hebrews 9;28 says So Chrst was once offered to bear the sns of many; and unto them that look for hm shall ha appear a second tme wthout sn unto salvaton. 5. The saved are to prepare for Hs comng by purfyng ourselves. John 3:2-- 3 says Beloved, now ore we the sons of God, and t doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be lke hm; for we shall see htm as he s, And every man that hath ths hope n hm. purlf leth hmself, even as he s pure. We prepare for Hs comng by dompletlng the wrk,,he has glvn to eact of us. VV n Mark 3:32-3- 7 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels whch are n heaven, nether the Son, but the father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the tme s. For the Son ot man s as a man rakng a far Journey, who left hs house, and gave authorty to hs servants, and to every man hs work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at mdnght, or at the cockcrow ng, or n the mornng: Lest comng suddenly he fnd you sleepng. And what say unto you say unto al. Watch. Matthew 24:42-5- also says Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know ths, that f the goodman of the house had known n what watch the thef would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered hs house to be broken ud. Therefore be ye also ready: for n such an hour as ye thnk not the Son of man cometh. Who then s a fathful and wse servant, whom hs lord hath made ruler over hs household, to gve them meat n due season? Blessed s that servant, whom hs lord when he cometh shall fnd so dong. Verly say unto you. That he shall make hm ruler over all hs goods. But and f that evl servant shall say n hs heart. My lord delayeth hs comng; And shall begn to smte hs fel lowservants, and to eat and dr'nk wth the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come n a day when he looketh not fof hm, and n an hour fhat he s not aware of. And shall cut hm asunder, and appont hm hs porton wth the hypocrtes: there shall be weepng and gnashng of teeth. We can also prepare for Hs comng by reachng our loved ones and others, wth the gospel, for t says n Matthew 24:36-4- 2 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, no the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of No--e were, so shall also the comng of the Son of man be. For as n the days that were before the flood they were eatng end drnkng, marryng and gvng n marrage, untl the day that No- -e entered nto the ark, And knew not untl the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the comng of the Son of man be. Then shall two be n the feld; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grndng at tre mll- - the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. THE ORDER OF EVENTS AT HS COMNG.. The dead N CHRST (saved dead) shall rse, and they wll receve glorfed bodes. t says n Thessalonlans 4:6 that The dead n Chrst shall rse frst. and t says n Cornthans 5:42-4- 4 So also s the resurrecton of the deed. t s sown n corrupt-o- n; t s rased n lncorrupton :lt s sown n dshonour; t s rased n glory: t s sown n weakness; t s rased n power: t s sown a natural body; t s rased a sprtual body. There s a natural body, and ther s a sprtual body. And verse 52 says n a moment, n the twnklng of an eye, at the last trump: for the tr-mpe-t shall sound, and the dead shall be rased ncorruptble, ana we shall be changed. 2. The lvng Chrstans wll te gven glorfed bojes, and shall go up to meet the Lord n the & ar. Cornthans : 5 -- 53 says Behold, shew you a mystery; We shall not al sl4r, but we shall all be changed, tn a moment, n the twnklng of an eye, at the last trump: for the trunpet snal sound, and the dead shall be rased ncorruptble, and we shall be changed. For ths corruptble nust p'lt on ncorruptlon, and ths mortal must put on mmortalty. l, Thessa'onlans 4: says 'Then we wnlch are alle and reman shall ue caught up together wth there n the cloudf, to meet the Lord n the ar: and so shall we ever be wth The Lord. n PhHpplans 3;20-2- t says For our conversatlcn s n neaven; from whence also we look for the Savour, the Lord Jesjs Chrst: Who shall change our vle body, hat t may be fashoned k unto hs g'orlous oody, accordng to the workng whereby he s able even to subdue all thngs unto hm self. And John 3:2 says Beloved, n are we the sons of God, ard t doth not appear what we shall bet but we know that, when he shall appeer, we shall be lke for we shall see he as he s.
