Lesson Who is your SOURCE? Winnie could barely hear her coach from the sidelines. The lacrosse game was heating up as the rival team scored again tying the game 7 to 7. Winnie was confused by all the loud noises around her until she saw her coach calm and collected on the sidelines. Winnie had memorized all the plays and when her coach gave the secret signal, she knew just what to do. Despite not being able to hear, the tense atmosphere, and the fear of losing, Winnie followed the lead of her coach, played attack, and scored the winning goal! As Christian girls, we are called to live out the purposes that Christ has for us on this earth even when the atmosphere gets intense. Each of us has been given VERY special gifts and talents that are unique JUST TO US. The Bible tells us that we are WONDERFULLY made by God (Psalm 139:13-14), and that He designed each of us with detail, love, and compassion. He also placed a passion inside of us to worship Him with these specific gifts. God is our creator, and He is our Source of EVERYTHING we do. Let s begin reading a passage from Luke this is one of Jesus famous sermons called the Parable of the Sower. Read the following verses. Luke 8:4-6 Why do you think the seed cannot grow on the rock? (Luke 8:6) What is missing that is essential for plants to grow? Luke 8:11-13 Why do people fall away from the Word of God? When do they tend to fall away? (Luke 8:13) What is missing that is essential for Christian growth? Seeds cannot grow on rocks because rocks do not produce water which is the SOURCE of life. This little seed is never going to be what God intended it to be without being watered everyday. And the last time I looked, rocks do not meet the nutritional standards for growth similar to Twinkies. They might seem good at the time, but eventually you will end up with one big bad tummy ache! Water is the SOURCE needed for any simple seed to become the beautiful flower, vegetable, tree, or herb it was designed to be. Jesus uses this illustration of the seed to teach us that we, too, need to be connected to the SOURCE of life in order to discover the specific passions, purposes, and plans God has for us.

Luke 8:11 Jar What does the seed represent in this parable? Hot Glue Gun Wire Twine Elmers Glue Scissors Foam Brush Yes! The seed is the Word of God. Okay We are about to learn something super cool! John 1:1-3 Who is the Word of God? Yes! Jesus is the Word of God and through Him ALL THINGS WERE MADE. This includes YOU and me. When we put all these Scriptures together, we learn that Jesus is our SOURCE. We cannot grow into what God wants us to be without being continually connected to Him. We need to plant our roots deep into His WORD everyday in order to grow into the plans that God has for us. This is especially important when life gets tough. Sometimes it s easy to look at the things of this world to give us hope Tag and purpose. But eventually we will become like this little plant who withers away never knowing its sole purpose. When we keep our focus on Jesus and study His Word, He will LEAD us into the plans that He has for us! Let me ask you some Fabric questions. Be honest. When life gets tricky and hard things happen, who do you lean on? Your friends? Your parents? Your phone? Social Media? God s Word? Explain. Hot Glue Sticks What is the difference in getting your identify from the things of this world (i.e., the things you have, your popularity, your talents, the thinks you are involved in) verses getting your identity from God s Word? What does Ephesians 4:15 (The Message) tell about taking our lead from Christ? We take our LEAD from Christ who is the source of everything we do. Jesus is our leader, and He is our Source. He created us all unique girls of God with a purpose and a plan. He also planted a special gift in each of us to use for His glory. Whether you are a fast runner, a lacrosse player, a ballerina, a wiz at math, a friend to count on, a courageous fighter in the midst of a disease, a little awkward, or have a big personality... you are WONDERFULLY MADE. We never have to be afraid when hard things come into our lives. We have a leader who gives us confidence and courage. Just as Winnie took the lead from her coach in a time of uncertainty, we, too, need to take the lead from our coach, Jesus, who knows the game and can see the next play ahead. Run from the rocks and soak yourself in the Living Water. He is your Source of life. Equip yourselves with His WORD and take the cues from Him. Even when life gets tough, take your lead from Jesus. You will win the game every time!

Journal Questions 1. read Jeremiah 29:11. What do you think God s plans are for you that are Good? How will you use them? 2. Read Psalm 139: 13-14. You are made unique! What are your special gifts and talents? How will you take your lead from Christ in these areas? 3. Read Psalm 32:8. Do you ever get scared when life throws you a curve ball? What does this verse tell you about god? What does this verse teach you to do when life is uncertain?

Memory Verses and service actions Cut out and memorize! Put them on your mirror at home or in your locker at school! ''For I know the plans I have for you, 'says the LORD.' They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.''' Jeremiah 29:11 (New Living Translation) Knitting Party - Did you know you can have fun knitting with your family or friends and make an impact around the world at the same time?! actions ''We take our LEAD from Christ who is the source of everything we do.'' Ephesians 4:15 (The Message) "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." KidKnits is a non-profit started with the very simple idea of a nineyear old girl to make hats out of hand-made yarn from Rwanda. You can buy a kit from KidKnits at www. kidknits.org. The kits support the communities that hand spin the yarn in Rwanda, Kenya, and Chile. Each kit has instructions, handspun yarn, and all of the tools (needle, loom, hook, carrying bag, etc.) everything you need! There is even a great video you can watch on the website to learn about the women you are helping. Knit a hat and help someone in another part of the world! Project: Clip Board Art Supplies Pieces of Fabric Clip board Acrylic Paint SCRAP BOOKING PAPER glue stick Glitter scissors Pencil GLue

Art instructions: STEP ONE: Paint the clip on your board. Metal paint works the best because acrylic will scratch, but don t worry if you use acrylic, we have GLITTER! STEP TWO: Paint the top 3 inches of your clip board. Make sure you paint underneath your clip. STEP THREE: Turn over your clip board and trace the board onto scrapbook paper. Glue the paper onto your clip board with a glue stick. STEP Four: Paint the clip with glue and glitter! This will cover any scratches in your paint. STEP Five: Add pieces of fabric and tie onto the hole of your clip. STEP Six: Brush the sides of the clipboard with paint to blend in your paper. I also added glitter to the edges. For the final touch, write the verse around the edges of your clip board. Jesus is our leader and we must follow Him. We are beautiful daughters of the King! I doubt Jesus used a clipboard, but it s our reminder that He is our coach and Source of life. We must take our lead from Him. Amen!
