March 15, 2015 Faith Has Corresponding Actions #7 Pastor Charles Mendenhall Faith is a quality of virtue in our lives, and without faith it is impossible to please God, however, we have received a measure of faith when we were born again. Through the message or the teaching of the word that we hear that faith is awakened. Faith is the principle that enables us to access all the blessings and the favor that God has blessed us with through His Son Jesus. Heb 11:2 "The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It s our handle on what we can t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd." MESSAGE There are different principles of faith and faith always has a voice and has corresponding actions. Having faith does not put us into a competative spirit, but enables us to be able to be in the realm of victory, where we sense the overcoming power of God working in our lives. The act of faith sets us above the crowd. Heb 11:31-34 "By an act of faith, Rahab, the Jericho harlot, welcomed the spies and escaped the destruction that came on those who refused to trust God. I could go on and on, but I ve run out of time. There are so many more Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, the prophets.... Through acts of faith, they toppled kingdoms, made justice work, took the promises for themselves. They were protected from lions, fires, and sword thrusts, turned disadvantage to advantage, won battles, routed alien armies." MESSAGE Her act of faith was because she had helped the spies and they had told her that her and her family would be spared. However, she did have something to do, her corresponding action was to place a scarlet cord (representing the blood of Jesus) out of the window where she lived and they would be spared when Israel attack the city. She is mentioned in the lineage of Jesus because of the turnaround in her life. All of the others mentioned here, showed great faith at different times in their lives, turning weaknesses into strength. A review of the teachings in Mark 5 of the woman with the issue of blood, for when she heard about Jesus and acted on what she heard, she received her healing. Her faith is what made her whole. Mark 10 showed us that blind Bartimaeus received his healing in about the same way, he heard about Jesus and had corresponding actions and because of his faith, he received his eye sight and was made whole. The truth is that Jesus is no respecter of persons, what He has done for others, He will do for us now. Our faith will make us whole regardless of whatever the situation may be. John 4:46-53 "So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. 47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. 48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. 49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. 50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the

man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. 51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth. 52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. 53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house." KJV This man, when he heard about Jesus, sought him out to come and heal his son. He had a relentless attitude, was not going to be put off, and take no for an answer, but was determined that if Jesus would come his son would live. After speaking again to Jesus, Jesus' response was to go; your son will not die. The man believed, went on his way, met his servants and they informed him that the son was alive, after inquiring about when it had happened, he was told it happened at the same time that Jesus told him his son would live. Consequently, the man and his whole household believed Jesus. We must have this same relentless attitude in the things of God. When Jesus spoke to him, he believed and he went, he had received that thing that he had requested the healing of his son. The super manifestations of God are awesome. We would all like to see instantaneous manifestations take place but this many times is not what happens. They have to be walked out over a period of time with the switch of faith turned on. People sometimes allow their belief or faith, to be switched off because of not seeing immediate results, thinking that God is not working on their behalf, because they cannot see anything happening with their natural eye. Faith perceives as a real fact what is not revealed to our senses. Because of not keeping our faith in the on position, we are robbed of what God was in the process of doing and we don't receive. Heb 11:1 "Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]." AMP Many times we acknowledge what we need to do in regards to being healed, but because we do not have corresponding actions we don't receive the manifestation we are seeking. Example, a man about to starve to death, realizing that if he would just partake of some food he would be fine, but even after the food is given to him, he doesn't eat, so he dies, he had no corresponding actions. Faith has corresponding actions, many times when we are prayed for and we don't receive immediately, we quit believing. Without having corresponding actions being needed in order to receive, we don't get our miracle, whatever it might be. Example of Bro. Hagin praying for a young man who received his healing instantly, but in another meeting a lady who had brought her young daughter who had polio, he had prayed for her but there was apparently no change, however Bro. Hagin told her that when he prayed there had been a strong anointing and he believed that they would see the total healing take place later. The lady went home with her being greatly disappointed, began to talk with God regarding why her daughter was not healed, but during her bath time the next morning as the Lord began to speak to her regarding what Bro Hagin had told her, she confessed that Bro

Hagin had spoken the truth, she repented for having unbelief, murmuring and complaining, she began to praise the Lord and she heard the snap of bones coming into place and her daughter was healed completely. She almost switched her switch off. Many times the healing power of God is ministered but it doesn't become effective until the faith is exercised. You can sometimes sense the anointing flowing into people, but until faith is exercised no results are seen. We must learn how to keep the switch of faith turned on. Luke 17:12-19 "And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: 13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. 14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. 17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? 18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. 19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole." KJV Faith always has a voice and always has corresponding actions. They spoke to Jesus, asking for mercy, had a voice; Jesus told them to go to the priests, they went, corresponding actions; whose faith made them whole? Only one of them returned to give thanks to Jesus and was told that his faith had made him whole. His destiny in life had been changed. We need to get it deep down on the inside of us that our faith can change our destiny even if it is not good; God is no respecter of persons. If we will believe what God has said through His word, our faith can make us whole! Luke 7:36-50 "And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. 37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, 38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. 39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner. 40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. 41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. 42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? 43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. 44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. 45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. 46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. 47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. 48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. 49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? 50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace." KJV Luke 7:50 "But Jesus said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; go (enter) into peace [in freedom from all the distresses that are experienced as the result of sin]." AMP Luke 7:50 "And Jesus said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; go in peace. NLT Luke 7:50 "He ignored them and said to the woman, Your faith has saved you. Go in peace. MESSAGE

This woman s faith changed her destiny, the direction of her life. This woman was not seeking healing, but salvation. She heard of Jesus being there, put her faith in motion, had corresponding actions and Jesus told her that her faith had saved her. John 8:1-11 "Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. 2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. 3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." KJV John 9:6-15 "When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. 8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged? 9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he. 10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened? 11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight. 12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not. 13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind. 14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. 15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see." KJV This man never questioned Jesus, he received the word that Jesus spoke and had corresponding actions, did as he was told and received his healing. Mark 2:2-17 "And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. 3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. 4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. 6 But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, 7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? 8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? 9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? 10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) 11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. 12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion. 13 And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them. 14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. 15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. 16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? 17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." KJV

Luke 5:24-25 "But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. 25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God." KJV The Pharisees in all of the above scriptures always questioned Jesus and his ability to heal and to forgive people of their sins. They also were always upset because Jesus healed or delivered on the Sabbath. Jesus proclaimed that he had come to heal, deliver and forgive whatever the people were in need of. But that it was the faith and actions of the people involved who received from him. These religious people believed in the letter of the law and of works and were quick to judge and condemn. The religious mind would question if it was Gods will to heal, or whether room should have been made for the four men and their sick friend. There are some people who believe that they have been so bad that not even God can forgive them, but this is not true. They don't know Gods character and they don't have their faith in the finished work of Jesus, that the blood of Jesus is ever crying out they are forgiven but until they exercise faith in the finished work of Jesus they won't be able to be born again, faith has a voice "if thou will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in thine heart that Jesus was raised from the dead, thou shall be saved". Faith never quits believing, our faith will make a difference, and faith never quits trusting. We cannot allow ourselves to get into reasoning or we will lose our faith and lose our victory. Reasoning is doubt and unbelief where victories are lost, it is not the winners circle. The act of faith distinguishes us and sets us above the crowd. Anybody can walk by faith, anybody can exercise faith. Heb 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." KJV When we get in the presence of Jesus our attitude must be relentless not letting anything get in our way. Jesus sees our faith, He won't rebuke us. Keep the switch of faith turned on. Faith always has corresponding actions.
