Christ Church (Parish Church) 4 th Sunday in Advent December 18, 2016 8:30 HOLY COMMUNION, BCP 10:30 SERVICE OF LESSONS AND CAROLS Welcome LIGHTING OF THE FOURTH ADVENT CANDLE: LOVE Advent is a time for waiting; waiting for God to bring his kingdom to our world. We wait for the LOVE that God so freely offered us through his Son, Jesus Christ. We pray that all people will receive the Christ Child as God s wondrous gift to the world. As we light our fourth candle may it be a sign of the Love that imparts to human hearts the blessings of God s heaven. CHRISTMAS FLOWERS & MEMORIALS If you would like to place flowers in the church or place a memorial in memory of a loved one this Christmas Season please let the office know by Monday, December 19. OFFERING ENVELOPES FOR 2017 Offering envelopes for 2017 are ready and are at the Westmorland Street entrance this morning. For those that have e-offering and would like some envelopes for special occasions there are unmarked boxes with those in them for you. Advent Organ Recitals at Christ Church Cathedral. Fridays in December, 12:10-12:50pm. December 23: David Drinkell. Freewill offering. CHRISTMAS DINNER Home alone at Christmas? Come to St. John the Evangelist Church in Fredericton for a delicious meal with wonderful people. Thanks to willing volunteers and warm hearts, we are offering a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings at 12noon on Christmas day. If you will be alone or simply would enjoy a free Christmas dinner with others, come. Enjoy Christmas music, conversation and food in the friendly atmosphere of our hall. It would be helpful if you let the church office (458-9411) know you are attending. Come and enjoy! Thank you to the decorating crew who was here this week and have made our Worship spaces even more beautiful for the Advent and Christmas seasons. Thank you to everyone who assisted in making our annual Christmas Dinner for our neighbours a resounding success. Donations of food and gifts and time are most appreciated as are the chefs, potato peelers, dishwashers and set-up crew. Thanks to our Youth Group for getting together and making the lovely gift bags to give out at the dinner - for some, this could be their only gift. Everyone who attended is always so appreciative; it is truly a wonderful event in which to participate. Our thanks to all the readers and musicians who have come together to lead our Service of Lessons and Carols. The choir has been practicing diligently since October and our organist, Alice, began her planning long before then. A welcome and thank you to our talented trumpeter, Jonathan Snell, and to Signa Love who has been singing with us over the Advent Season.
