(2) In him shall true hearts everywhere their high communion find; His service is the golden cord close binding all mankind. (3) Join hands, then, children of the faith, whate er your race may be. Who serves the world as Christians do is surely kin to me. (4) In Christ now meet both east and west, in him meet south and north; All Christly souls are one in him throughout the whole wide earth. Greetings & Prayers of the Congregation (Please remain standing for prayer) Leif Lind Prayer Response (No. 306) Consecrate me now to thy service, Lord, by the power of grace divine; May my soul look up with a steadfast hope, and my will be lost in thine. Worship in Song What Love Is This? Kari Jobe, L. Brewster, & M. Fieldes Jennifer Miller, soprano What love is this that you gave your life for me And made a way for me to know you? And I confess you're always enough for me, you're all I need Call to Offering (Unless otherwise marked, loose offering goes to local church expense) Todd Leonard Offertory You Love Me Kevin Stokes, Tony Wood Jennifer Miller, soprano...that's why Father God I stand amazed, for you know me so well Yet I'm lavished with your grace, you forgive all my sin Even call me your child, I'm forever yours for I can't deny... You love me! You see me! You hear me! You know me! You love me! (Unless otherwise marked, loose offering goes to local church expense)
Scripture Reading Matthew 25:35 40 Margery Rich For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? The King will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. Worship in Song Here Kari Jobe, D. Leonard, & L. Jordan Jennifer Miller, soprano Come and rest here, come and lay your burdens down Come and rest here, there is refuge for you now... He is near, you'll find his healing, your heart isn't shattered anymore, he is here Sermon I Was a Stranger & You Invited Me In Christopher Lewis Closing Hymn Whatever You Do Carolyn Winfrey Gillette, Tune: St. Denio (1) Whatever you do to the least ones of these, I tell you in truth that you do unto me! Lord Jesus, you taught us! May we learn anew that when we serve others, we also serve you. (2) When poor, waiting children pray hunger will end, when those long-forgotten cry out for a friend, When thirsty ones whisper, O Lord, where are you? We hear, in their longing, that you re calling, too. (3) In prisons and jails, Lord, we find a surprise; we see you in people whom others despise. At hospital bedsides we offer a prayer and find, when we visit the sick, you are there. (4) When we reach to others in war-stricken lands and offer our hearts there, and offer our hands We notice, Lord Jesus, the gift of your grace: We see, in the crowds of the suffering, your face. (5) Lord, when did we see you? Your teaching is clear that when we serve others, we re serving you here. And when your church heeds you and helps those in pain, then out of the chaos, hope rises again. Benediction (Please be seated after the benediction) Todd Leonard Postlude Water Music Suite Hornpipe G. F.
