ASSEMBLE IN GOD S NAME ANNOUNCEMENTS MINUTE FOR MISSION Henry Meeuwse One Great Hour PRELUDE Petite Suite #3 Léon Boëllmann CALL TO WORSHIP The season of Lent sets us on a journey. The journey begins in the wilderness. We follow the way of Jesus, who faced trials, trouble, temptation and testing. Like Jesus, we are not alone. The Holy Spirit is with us. God s Word is on our lips. Our call is to trust in God alone, to do God s will in all things. For God leads us not only into the wilderness, but also through the wilderness. Come, let the journey begin. *HYMN 817 We Walk by Faith and Not by Sight DUNLAP S CREEK CONFESSION O God, our refuge and fortress, forgive us when we fail to trust in You. We fall to temptation; we are swayed by false words; we speak false words of our own. We choose our ease and comfort over Your demanding claims upon us and the world. In turning from You, we settle for less than the abundant generosity You intend. Forgive us we pray. Do not let us be put to shame, O God. Hear us when we call to You and show us Your salvation. In Christ s name we pray. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON Romans 3:21-24 *GLORIA PATRI 581 GLORIA BAPTISM QUESTION TO THE CHURCH Ann Carswell Do you, the members of this congregation, in the name of the whole church of Christ, undertake with Mitch & Jacqueline the Christian nurture of Simmons, so that in due time she may confess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior? If yes, please signify so by standing. PRAYER UNISON Father, pour out Your Spirit on us, that we may participate again in Your baptism. May all who pass through these waters be delivered from death to life, from bondage to freedom, from sin to righteousness. To You be praise, honor, and glory; through Jesus Christ our Savior, who, with You and the Holy Spirit, reigns forever. Amen.
