79, Pallavaram Road, Kolapakkam, Chennai 600 122. info@omegaschools.org LMOIS VBSE NEWSLETTER-8 Pg 1 Dear All, The following are the questions that arise in our minds with reference to the topics Spirituality, Truth & Wisdom, and Health & Nutrition. The answers help us to understand how all these are connected & interdependent. What is spirituality? Spirituality is the science and the art of remembrance of the divinity within. Where does this divinity or god reside? This divinity resides within each and every one of our hearts. How do we remember or express this divinity within? All that we need to do, to express this divinity is to love, become love and finally be love itself. In this state, love is unconditional and all accepting. All are treated equally without any distinction of caste, creed, religion and nationality. Love is not only for human beings but for all creations of god plants, animals, minerals and all aspects of the universe. When we are in tune with our hearts or divinity within, how will it help us to be truthful and wise? Just observe nature God s creation. Everything is in perfect balance, harmony, rhythm, orderliness, beauty, perfection and a silent symphony. Likewise when we listen to our hearts, each and every thought and action of ours will just be the way they have to be - truthful and right. Wisdom is nothing but the right application of knowledge and our heart will intuitively guide us to do just that. What is the importance of health and nutrition with reference to spirituality? Our heart is the seat of the soul (divinity) and our body is its vehicle. It is therefore imperative that our body the vehicle be healthy and fit, to enable the soul to move towards its destination. Therefore the food that we eat should be cooked neatly and cleanly in a proper manner. Simple food helps us to live as Nature intended us to live, eating what the body needs for its healthy existence and no more. A healthy, spiritual life makes a healthy mind, which makes a healthy body. State this simple but very effective prayer everyday in the morning: "Please grant me a life with food that is blessed by my Master, thoughts and words that are allowed by my Master and actions which are recognized by my Master. Thank you. Mrs Nirmala Sundaram - Head of Curriculum Development & Training We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Wayne Dyer

Sanjanya S 2B Moments with the Beloved. This incident occurred when I was 7 ½ years old. It was a Sunday, Christmas morning when I dressed up as Santa Clause and went cheerfully to the Ashram giving chocolate to everyone. At last I went to the cottage of our beloved Master who was getting ready in his golf cart to visit and wish everyone. So then he greeted me Merry Christmas and asked me whether I wanted to go on a ride. I shyly replied No but Satbir Uncle explained to me how revered the Beloved is and then I being eager to go accepted this. My mother was very excited took a video while wishing others I felt as if I was the Master. At last he dropped me in the gate, giving me His blessing. I quickly ran and told my family about this. They were all so delighted and so was I. This was a heart filling experience to me. ShravanKumar 5B We, Omegaites are very thankful to our Master who founded and has gifted school which helps children develop in all fields. All Omegaites study well so that they fulfill our Master s wish which was that every student who leaves this school after studying should become one of the best people in the field they choose and also kind hearted. Sugavanam 7C Students say what is Spirituality To me spirituality is a journey everybody has to take to reach God. I learnt that all religions share an equal path to God and that everything is connected either spiritually or physically. We also learnt about Sikhism. In Sikhism everybody has to do service even if they are rich or poor. S Krishna 8G To me spirituality is doing service and sharing to our country, world. D Badri 8G Spirituality is inner purity, being calm and peace at mind and heart. We learnt in Sikhism, they provide free food for people visiting Gurudwar. It was a tradition in Sikhism that to send people with full stomach. I learnt that we should be kind heart to share your food to everyone. Prathiksha 9E For me spirituality is a power used to control ourselves. I have learnt in spirituality everyone is connected and we should be broad minded to accept all religious faiths. R Fenin 8G It is the way/path which lead to the almighty. The path we take may be different but we reach the same point if we truly follow the path. R Latha 8G I am grateful! We are collaborators in creation. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin LMOIS VBSE NEWSLETTER-8 Pg 5 Lalaji Maharaj s birthday was celebrated by our students with a skit trained by Ms Puja Mam on the life and message of Lalaji. The characters came alive with the students performance. The life of him shows as how he as a kid reads holy scripts with his mother and when adversities come, he takes it as a blessings. He continues his life as normally. He trains his disciple Babuji who in turn trains our Master Chariji who started our school in Lalaji Maharaj s name. We share few interesting thoughtful answers from students for some questions asked. How can you communicate with God? I communicate with Him with my heart and soul. He receives our messages through our prayers. Dhivya 5B When I am sad,i think of you. Next second, I feel cheerful and happy. S.Keshini 5B I communicate with Him during quiet time/meditation. I concentrate very well. Robert 5B God is within us in our hearts. We can communicate with Him through meditation and by constantly remembering Him. Sashmita S.B 6 G Why are you formless? S Ramya 5A If you had an interview with God what would you ask? How does he attend to everyone s prayer? How do we know if what we re looking at all the time is God or not? Seema 5A Can you give me magical powers? I don t want to get old can you stop me from getting older? Can I have a special occasion everyday? Srividhya 5A Is it possible I can communicate with you? Are you really in everyone s heart? Andrew L 5A How do we know someone is enlightened? If you are the ultimate why can t you make everybody at peace? It was so nice to see the enthusiasm of students who performed on Babuji Maharaj Birthday, and students who watched it with attention which was later tested by few questions. A very nice idea from Ms Sridevi to have this after the performance. Rajiv 5A By three methods we may learn wisdom: first, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest. Confucius

We come spinning out of nothingness, scattering stars like dust. Jaladdin Rumi LMOIS VBSE NEWSLETTER-8 Pg 6 Music expands our hearts across all barriers such as language, nationality and religion. It is a natural expression of the Divine within. We see above photos how children enjoy music in assembly or classroom. Bridge of Acceptance, learning to accept others as they are and identifying good qualities in them. Student from 6I using the floor as his canvas! Truth is that all of us are different and wisdom is to live together accepting this truth. Dear Master, I feel like all the teachers in Omega are lovely. They also teach very well. My teachers are also like God. Thank you Master for giving wonderful teachers. S Sukumar 2 D Dear Master, Well, I truly don t know you but you are praised by many people. Slowly I started understanding you, and now I know you the best. Yours Dearly, Mhehnas Aysha Firose 2 D The Master I follow is Chariji and I will tell how I and my parents follow Him. I follow my Master by saying the prayer in the morning. Before I go to bed in the night. Before I eat I say my prayer. My parents follow Him by always get up at 5.00am and do the morning meditation. Then my parents do cleaning in the evening and 9.00pm universal prayer. That is how I think me and my parents follow Chariji. I love my school because the teachers help me in studies I love my school because I will enjoy I love my school because it is beautiful D. NowenKarthick 2A Who is a Master? Master is a guide to realize GOD in our heart. How will you understand Master? I will understand my Master will guide my soul in the right path so that I can feel my soul is happy. Vanaja 2A Spirituality is nothing but an effort to change one's self, to try and realize the real value of life that we must aspire for. What is life? Is it only this bodily life, starting from birth and ending with death? This short sloka, as we call it, a couplet in the Gita, which says that as we change our shirts, our dresses when they are dirty, and put on new ones, similarly the soul, in its passage through existence, uses bodies for its journey. Spirituality, says it is that inner continuity of existence which is represented by the soul to which we should pay attention. P. Rajagopalachari, Heart to Heart Volume 4 The art of healing comes from nature, not from the physician. Therefore, the physician must come from nature, with an open mind. Paracelsus

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine. Anthony J d Angelo Reward for being truthful.once when I was 7 years old my parents and my friends parents had took me and my friend out for vacation to a resort. They were conducting games for kids I had won the game for receiving a teddy bear but instead got a better prize. My friend said just leave it and be happy you got a better prize. I did not feel good, so I went and asked someone who was conducting the games. He smiled at me and gave me a chocolate box to keep. I felt happy. Meena Rajendran 8D Prayer to my teacher You always be with me in school Why not forever too? So it s always fun and exciting. Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase. Martin Luther King Jr LMOIS VBSE NEWSLETTER-8 Pg 8 Truth is very important in one's life. If one say truth one won't land in troubles. But if you say a lie, you have to tell another lie to cover the first lie. I learnt that Wisdom comes when a person tells truth. I also learnt that a true friend never asks what the other friend wants. He gives it without him asking. After this value, I am trying to resist myself from telling lies. Keerthana 8A When we speak out the truth our hearts will be free on hiding a mistake. I speak out the truth I feel so relief. We can get wisdom when we speak truth. Even though we are poor we should be truthful which makes us the richest person in the world. I also speak lies sometimes to my parents and friends, but now I think I shouldn't. We should change our habits slowly and be truthful to everyone. Smruthi 8A In this value of truth and wisdom I learnt many things which would be very important in my life. I have understood that truth is most important for a person in this life. Truth might not be very pleasant but it is the truth (reality). Truth changes a person completely the person starts feeling happy all the time. Suhaib Rana 8A The father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi was respected due to his habit of always talking the truth. And I enjoyed VBSE classes because of this value. Lalaji Maharaj had the habit of reading spiritual books with his mother so even when he lost all his properties he didn't worry. Another story I learnt for this value was Satyakam, in this story I learnt that God is present everywhere and to see him guidance of a teacher is very essential. From Krishna and Sudama story I learnt that God gives something better than what one ask. Therefore, I consider Truth and Wisdom as the most interesting value of the year. Mekavathi 8A The life of Lalaji Maharaj was very inspiring. We learnt that truth is connected to spirituality. It was a fabulous experience to know about Harichandran who even though became poor never left the practice of speaking thr truth. Let us be the change. Lets speak truth and turn into a new fruit. R Adharsha 8A According to me truth comes from the heart of oneself. People who speak truth always have pure mind and heart. Great king Raja Harichandra is example for speaking truth in his lifetime even at difficult situations. Great books like Thirukkural describes that speaking truth makes a person pure. So it is more important to speak truth more than wisdom. - R Sadhana 8A After reading the story of Krishna and Sudama, Satyakama and also watching videos I realise all the mistakes I have done before. I understood that I would never commit mistakes again and if I commit a mistake I would always say the truth in any situations. I like to be as Krishna to his best friend Sudama. - T Saimalaika 8A We should be truth from the words of our heart. Choose truth and wise choices like Swami Vivekananda did. He suffered so much when he went to foreign countries but finally became very successful man for the spiritual world. Tapi Niichi 8D I think that this value is the most important in life. Truth gives strength to the character which is developed properly by wisdom. These values are not to be searched outside, they live within us. We just need to refine our heart to find them. Indian history has a lot of people who can be taken as examples like Satyakam, Raja Harishchandra and the other saints. Vinayak Sharma 8D By speaking truth we may get beatings but it would not pain because we feel relaxed after telling the truth. My old school, they would not teach any values, VBSE has changed my life. Thanks to VBSE. Padmapreban 8D Always use truth and wisdom to guide you through life and to reach the Ultimate God. Truth is Wisdom, Wisdom is God. Gowri 8D Mahatma Gandhi, had really good qualities. Without violence. Gandhi could solve problems by just talking to them. Gandhi was a great freedom fighter. Here are some qualities that he had: He wasn't short tempered. He wasn't violent, he didn't shout at others. Gandhi cared for other people. Siddharth Siva 4B Nature needs no remedy - she needs only an opportunity to exercise her own self-healing powers. Unknown

LMOIS VBSE NEWSLETTER-8 Pg 9 Live your life so others will feel love and piety within themselves. The Wonderful Ten and Why A wish tree was decorated in L block. Parents filled in cards with positive messages for others. You must realize that almost anything can be done by a human being who is prepared to love other human beings as brothers and sisters. Any effort backed by love must succeed. This is the divine law. P. Rajagopalachari Our children had the annual puppet show by Ms Jacqline. The students of classes 1 to 3 enjoyed the show much to their amusement. Story telling is an effective way of reaching all students irrespective of ages. I love donating to Omega Giveaway Campaign. I encourage my friends to donate too. I collect them during my free time. I feel happy for donating to the poor people. Whenever I go out with my parents I put a 100 rupee note in the donation box. Pradhika.S 4A I want to celebrate my birthday by.. My parents and my relatives have been urging me for all these years to wear new dresses, jewels and distribute cakes and sweets during my birthdays. They say I am their only daughter and want me to be happy always. I have been accepting this for all these years, but not anymore. On my birthday, I want to see smiles in the faces of the needy. I am going to collect the money that my parents would like to spend on my birthday and donate it to orphans. My father has been helping the poor in their education and from this year I am going to do that. I will distribute free food at least to 5 children who are suffering. I will talk freely to my grandparents who feel lonely all the time. I want to visit old age homes and help them. I am going to implement all these in my birthdays. P B Harita 9F The first thing I want to do is to meet Master. Then I want to go to an orphanage and give whatever I can to the children there. I choose to begin my day by meeting Master as it would be a positive beginning with his blessings. I realize and feel how much I have and how blessed I am. There are many who still don't have the basic facilities. Above all they lack a loving atmosphere. So going to an orphanage and spending some quality time with the children there would certainly be a memory to cherish throughout my life over those momentary gifts. Vatsala 9F Usually I don't like celebrating birthdays very grand. Instead of giving return gifts to our friends, we can gift things to poor people. May be once we can celebrate it grand for our enjoyment. But not every time. Instead of wasting money like this buying new clothes, we can get new clothes to the poor or orphans who do not have anyone for them. We can see and feel their happiness when we donate some toys for them. M Keerthika 9F I would buy some chocolates for our domestic helpers children. I would also make my parents happy by this. I would serve free food for needy people. They would bless me. Surbhi 9F To tell the truth, for many years I want to visit an orphanage and distribute chocolates and buy them books. Another wish is to give annadanam (free food) to poor people in the temple and also in the orphanage. For many years I have wished to do, but due to various reasons I am not able to do. But am waiting for that birthday on which all these wishes come true. G Sahithya 9F I would like to go to the Blue Cross and spend some time with the animals. I always wanted a pet dog on my birthday or any animal. M Shabreen Khanam 9F I want to go to Anandashram and donate clothes and money so that they will be happy. U Akash Kumar 9F Be happy to eat in constant Divine thought whatever you get. Babuji

The need for adherence to values in present education system Two of our teachers submitted articles to Govt. of Madhya Pradesh in response to an advertisement in newspaper. Few lines shared below. LMOIS VBSE NEWSLETTER-8 Pg 11 My Master said, God cannot be known because He is not an object. But His presence can be felt. P. Rajagopalachari Values guide and help us to determine what is right and wrong or good and bad. Applying values which we learn while we are educated shape our thoughts and the religious underpinnings of our personal belief system. Values are the guiding principles that dictate behaviours and action. Values can be an unwavering and unchanging guide and help the future generation to determine if they are on the right path. The teachers should be able to influence their students in such a way that it should be an active influence and they should be able to live by it. Children's lives can become less stressful and more productive when we acknowledge honour and adhere to them regardless of the situation that we encounter. By adhering to and inculcating values in the present educational system, we can lower stress and anxiety and increase happiness, sense of personal worth and self-awareness among the student community. We can justly say that while education is the training of the mind, value education is the training of the heart as it develops the right feelings and emotions. Mrs Srimathi Murali We must bring values and Dharma in our society s every level, be in Governance or Family or Society or Business. It could all be done if we could correct our education system by placing Values and Spirituality in the minds of children who shall later grow up to be part of the global society. Future citizens of any country are shaped and molded in the classrooms of today. So if any country brings correction in education system the whole country s system will be corrected in due course of time. Lets remember Vasudaiva Kutumbakam a message from ancient India long before United Nations was even dreamed of. Let me conclude with Albert Einstein Quote, Human beings can attain a worthy and harmonious life only if they are able to rid themselves, within the limits of human nature, of the striving for the wish fulfillment of material kinds. The goal is to raise the spiritual values of society. Let us all strive for it right from our school education system starting with the state which produced great poet Mahakavi Kalidas and great king Bhoja Raja. Not to fear what ought to be feared, is folly; it is the work of the wise to fear what should be feared. To live as the world lives, is wisdom. To secure the friendship of the great is true wisdom; To discern the truth in every thing, by whomsoever spoken, is wisdom. Not to permit the mind to go where it lists, to keep it from evil, and to employ it in good, this is wisdom. He who watches over birds, beasts, and insects, He who cared for you whilst you were yet in your mother's womb, Shall He not care for you now that you are come forth? Oh my heart, how could you turn from the smile of your Lord and wander so far from Him? You have left Your Beloved and are thinking of others: and this is why all your work is in vain. Try to be like a flower... Excerpts from http://www.abdulkalam.com The major challenge for Prof Vikram Sarabhai was to get the place in a specific area. Thousands of fishing folks lived there; the place had an ancient St Mary Magdalene Church, Bishop s House and a school. However there was a suggestion to approach the only person who could advise and help. That was "Rev Father Peter Bernard Pereira" who was Bishop of the region. Prof Vikram Sarabhai approached the Bishop on a Saturday evening, I still remember. The meeting between the two turned out to be historical. Many of us witnessed the event. Rev Father exclaimed, "Oh Vikram, you are asking my children's abode, my abode and God s abode. How is it possible?" However, both had a unique quality that they could smile even in difficult situations. Rev Father Peter Bernard Pereira asked Prof. Vikram Sarabhai to come to church on Sunday morning at 9.00 AM. Prof. Vikram Sarabhai went to the church with his team again on Sunday. At that time the prayer was progressing with the recitation of Bible by Father Pereira. After the prayer was over, the Bishop invited Prof. Vikram Sarabhai to come to the dais. The Rev Father introduced Prof Vikram Sarabhai to the people, "Dear children, here is a scientist, Prof. Vikram Sarabhai. What do sciences do? All of us experience, including this church, the light from electricity. I am able to talk to you through the mike which is made possible by technology. The diagnosis and treatment to patients by doctors comes from medical sciences. Science through technology enhances the comfort and quality of human life. What do I do, as a preacher? I pray for you, for your well being, for your peace. In short, what Vikram is doing and what I am doing are the same - both science and spirituality seek the Almighty s blessings for human prosperity in body and mind. Dear Children, Prof Vikram says, he would build within a year, near the sea-coast, alternative facilities to what we are having. Now dear children, can we give your abode, can we give my abode, can we give the God s abode for a great scientific mission?" There was a total silence, a pin drop silence. Then all of them got up and said Amen which made the whole church reverberate. Today, among us, Prof Vikram Sarabhai is not there, Rev Peter Bernard Pereira is not there, but those who are responsible for creation and making flowers blossom will themselves be a different kind of flower as described in the Bhagwat Gita: "See the flower, how generously it distributes perfume and honey. It gives to all, gives freely of its love. When its work is done, it falls away quietly. Try to be like the flower, unassuming despite all its qualities". What a beautiful message, to the humanity on the purpose of life reflected the spiritual component. Can we bridge the spiritual component of the religions to bring peace to nations and to the world?
