Introduction What a privilege it is to serve God; to follow Jesus example as a Son working on His Father s behalf- doing the Father s will- touching people with the love of God! God gives us unique gifts and abilities to use in His service and the power to make our service effective and fruitful through the Holy Spirit this is the winning formula. The vessel and the Creator working in partnership - Christ in us - loving people - building the Church - glorifying God! These 2 elements - our bodies dedicated to serve and anointed power for service are essential or vital to the work of God being done on earth. This is how it worked for Jesus - His earthly body being a dwelling place or temple for God s work to flow through and touch mankind. It is the same for the Church- we are His Body - each member is vital in ministry and the Holy Spirit s work is vital for true eternal fruitfulness! Body - dedicated to serve present your bodies a living sacrifice Romans 12:1 NKJV a body You have prepared for Me. It is the same for the Church- we are His Body - each member is vital in ministry and the Holy Spirit s work is vital for true eternal fruitfulness! What a joy it is to work together in God s service. Over time, we will produce good fruit by doing the good works we were created to do in Christ Jesus; and not only that, but we will enjoy the fun, friendship and team spirit that comes along with working together with great people who have a great vision. Kidz Church The Children s Ministry for ages 0-11 years which takes place at Sunday services and special events. Set-up and Breakdown Team A team of people that help wth the set-up and breakdown of some Life Church events. Active Volunteers Active Service in Ministry After watching the two Focus sessions and making a commitment to serve in ministry at Life Church, the next step is to meet with a staff member or someone in leadership at Life Church to talk through your S.H.A.P.E. and see where you would like to get involved at church and when you can begin. The staff member or leader will answer any questions you might have and help you find an area of ministry to get started serving in. They are there to encourage, support, and cheer you on as you endeavour to serve God and others! After deciding the where and when of getting started in ministry, the staff member will connect you to the Area Pastor or Area Leader responsible for the department of ministry where you will be serving. Then, you get - ACTIVE IN MINISTRY - wow, what a privilege and honour it is to be members of the Body of Christ! This is where the real road of discovery begins! Now, all the amazing gifts and abilities you have can get to work and help build the church! Over the process of time, you will produce good fruit by doing the GOOD WORKS you were created to do in Christ Jesus. And not only that, but you will enjoy the fun, friendship and team spirit that comes along with working together with great people who have a great vision. Frequently Asked Questions What training will I get? The Area Leader/Pastor will guide and support you through the introduction and training phases of volunteering. Every area of ministry has a training plan in place for volunteers. In most cases you will be given a detailed schedule of responsibilities that include times, dates, duties and instructions. You will be supported as you serve in ministry and given greater responsibility as you feel comfortable and able to take on more. How long will I serve? The required commitment for each area of ministry is different, it is usually 6 months to one year. This is because of the rota system in place, the amount of training that some ministries require, and to provide greater stability across church departments. What happens if I can t start serving straight away? This will be discussed at your meeting with a staff member or someone in leadership and a plan will be put in place that best suits your individual situation. What do I do if I want to change ministries? You will need to give as much notice as possible and meet with a staff member or someone in leadership again to discuss applying for another ministry. What do I do if I don t have time to serve? You can discuss this in your meeting with a staff member or someone in leadership, but it is worth mentioning that Life Church has a wide variety of ministries that require different time commitments. What do I do if I have holiday booked? Just let your Area Leader/Pastor know as soon as you can to ensure they do not rota you in when you are on holiday. Can I volunteer with my spouse? Yes you can, we have many different areas where you can serve together. You will be able to view them at your meeting with the staff member or someone in leadership. I am aged 14-17, what sort of ministries can I get involved in? There are a number of areas of ministry you can get involved in that would be fun and rewarding. We will support you in finding the ministry that suits you best and is flexible around your educational timetables and responsibilities. What do I do if after completing the S.H.A.P.E. Assessment I feel I need some counselling, or I d like to speak to someone concerning the experiences I ve been through? We are more than happy to help connect you with Pastoral Care Services at Life Church who can assist you in finding help and support.
