PSt. Nectarios C arish ouncil To our beloved St. Nectarios Spiritual Community: As 2016 starts, don't forget your St. Nectarios Community. We are always here for you, and look forward to seeing more of you in 2016. Our Faith is so important, as we see the happenings in our world today. We welcome two new parish council members. Mr. Perry Siatis and Dr. John Sarantopoulos. We look forward to working with them, and thank them for their participation. On February 7 after liturgy, our Arcon co-commanders Mr. Gus Pablecas and Mr. John Manos will be giving a presentation on religious freedom for Orthodox Christians in our world. Our community will be the first in the Metropolis to hear this presentation. An elaborate coffee hour will be served, provided by our Philoptochos. Be sure to attend this presentation so relevant to our world happenings as well as our faith. Many ministries through the Metropolis are available for you to participate-goarch.org for more info. Coming February 27 to St. Peter and Paul church to our Metropolis, Mr. Steve from the Be the Bee you tube will be holding a presentation and family retreat-such a wonderful tool for teaching our youth about our faith. Check this out on YOU TUBE, and share with your children. We all must do our part to provide religious education for our youth. Your church community is becoming the only place to teach our faith, outside your home. Let St. Nectarios and the Archdiocese help you! Congratulations to our community for raising our goal of $10,000 for the St. Nicholas National Shrine at Ground Zero. It is on its way to being erected in place of our St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church destroyed in the attacks of 9/11/2001. And WHAT A SYMBOL of our Orthodox Christian faith. Designed by the famous architect Santiago Calatrava, he emulates our beloved Hagia Sofia of Constantinople, and our icons. We are helping this worthy cause to support Orthodox Christianity, a symbol for the World to see. And we have met our goal to save our Icon-our beautiful mosaic icon of St Nectarios. Don't forget your stewardship pledge for 2016-if you are not a steward do consider becoming onewithout stewardship your spiritual home cannot pay its bills and so many of our activities cannot be supported. Through our stewardship committee, we wish to provide more fellowship and events for our faithful in our community. Please let your Parish Council know if you would be willing to share your time and talents to our Stewardship Committee. You are welcome, and needed. Join us February 28 for our ministries fair after liturgy, and hear more of all the ministries and activities St. Nectarios has to offer. Thank you for reading this, and spread the word to our faithful. We are blessed to have St. Nectarios as our spiritual community lead by Father Peter, and let's continue to put our hands and minds to work and hearts to God, Oli Mazi all together as we spend time with friends and family over our New Year 2106. With Sincere Appreciation of the Faith We Share, Dr. Jeanne Novas-Busano Parish Council President

A Call To Action Preserving our Orthodox Religious Freedom Our very existence as Orthodox Christians is being challenged in a most serious way. The Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate have the duty to defend and promote our Holy and Great Mother Church; accordingly, on February 7, 2015, Gus M. Pablecas and John G. Manos, the Regional Commanders for the Archons of the Chicago Metropolis will be making a presentation to inform all of the faithful of the current situation facing our Patriarchate which threatens our Orthodox survival. Please come and join Father Peter and the Archons as we face this important issue together. Wine & Cheese Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 7:00 pm St. Nectarios 133 S. Roselle Road Palatine, IL 60067 Tasting Come and enjoy a casual evening of wine tasting, cheese sampling, and fellowship. Each person/couple should bring 2 bottles of wine.
