Week of February 26, 2012 Lessons for the Leader Have you ever had someone come into your life and change the way you think, feel, and live? Why were you so drawn to the person? Consider how Paul impacted the lives of Aquila and Priscilla. Read Acts 18:1-4,11,18-19. What was the common ground that connected Paul with Aquila and Priscilla? How do you think God used their tentmaking abilities to draw them together? Whether Aquila and Priscilla were Christians before meeting Paul, we do not know; however, that bond of friendship impacted their lives for eternity. In addition, it provided a support for Paul. What abilities do you have? How can God use those to help you reach out to people? Read Acts 18:18-19. Imagine the departure when Paul left Aquila and Priscilla. In what ways do you think Paul challenged Aquila and Priscilla to share their faith? Do your friends equip and challenge you to share your faith? Read Acts 18:24-28. Apollos had a basic understanding of who Jesus was. Notice that although he did not know everything about Jesus, he shared what he knew. In what ways did Aquila and Priscilla assist Apollos? How was the ministry of Aquila and Priscilla an extension of Paul's ministry? How do you think Paul would have felt knowing they taught Apollos? In what ways do you see your ministry carried on through others? How does it make you feel? Take a minute to reflect on how you can present God's Word to preschoolers. Pray for God to prepare your heart and the preschoolers you teach to be open to Him through worship. What do these symbols mean? 1aApplication Activities Format: Follow the numbers with arrows for a 30-minute, large group plus 20-minute Application Activities format. 1 Large Group Only Format: Follow all the numbers for a 45- to 60-minute large group only format. Open your Bible to Acts 18. Tell the Bible story. Apollos Learned About Jesus Based on Acts 18:1-4,11,18-19,24-28 Paul liked to teach about Jesus. Paul taught everywhere he went, and traveled to many towns to help people learn about Jesus. When Paul went to Corinth, he made some new friends. Paul met a man named Aquila and his wife Priscilla. Aquila and Priscilla made tents. Paul stayed and worked with them. While in Corinth, Paul taught people about Jesus. He helped them understand how God wanted them to live. Paul stayed with Aquila and Priscilla for 18 months. When it was time for Paul to leave Corinth, Aquila and Priscilla went with him. Paul, Aquila, and Priscilla went from town to town. When they came to Ephesus, Paul left Aquila and Priscilla. Paul taught about Jesus in Ephesus. A man by the name of Apollos came to Ephesus. Apollos had learned about Jesus, but he did not know as much as Aquila and Priscilla. After Aquila and Priscilla heard Apollos speak, they invited him to their home. They taught him more about Jesus. Apollos went to Achaia (uh KAY yuh). He taught people who already knew about Jesus as well as people who did not. 12 Review the Bible Story (5 minutes) Pull It Together Giant Game Floor Mat* (step 11), beanbag, "Bible Words" (CD, step 11) Say: "Let's see how much we learned."
