The leadership of the BCC-JCG is as concerned about these issues as we all are and wants you to know what information the BCC- JCG collects, what we do with that information and we do not do with it. First, let me assure you the BCC-JCG database has not been compromised and our accounts have not been hacked. This may be going on elsewhere, but it has not happened here. The BCC-JCG collects a minimal amount of personal information. This includes your name, mailing address, phone number and email address. The information we collect is only information you volunteer. The BCC-JCG does not require you to provide any information you do not want to share and you are not required to be a member, although it does help with communications. The BCC-JCG only uses this information to communicate with you. We do this through real mail (less frequently these days due to cost and time), email (due to lower cost and convenience) or by phone (very rare). The BCC-JCG does not share your information with any outside organizations and your information will never be sold or released. The BCC-JCG plans over the next year to update its systems, processes, and internet presence including accepting donations and payments online. Doing so will require that you provide information necessary to execute the transaction, but information from such transactions will not be retained any longer than necessary to complete the transaction. The leadership of the BCC-JCG has not published an information privacy policy and knows such a policy is necessary. If you have any interest or experience drafting such policies, we would love your input and assistance. TORAH RENTALS The Torahs that the BCC-JCG use during high holiday services are not the only Torahs the group owns. The group has a third Torah affectionately nicknamed the Traveling Torah. This Torah is available to rent for families who are organizing independent bar and bat mitzvahs. The Torah rental includes an ark, yad and if needed talit and kipot are included. For information about renting the Torah ensemble contact Daniel Ellenbogen at 202-255-7207 (mobile) or at Daniel.Ellenbogen1@gmail.com. A link will soon be included on the web page. 3
