Surah Ar-Rahman (Ayah 62-78) Class 10 May 11, 2013 Introduction Towards the end of Surah Ar- Rahman there is description of Paradise. We cannot imagine Paradise. The Prophet SAW said Allah said: "ʺI have prepared for My pious servants things which have never been seen by an eye, nor heard by an ear, or (even) imagined by a human being."ʺ (Muslim) Entrance to Paradise is only possible through Allah s mercy. People in Paradise are in different levels that are determined by faith and righteous deeds. There are two conditions to acceptance of good deeds: 1. Sincerity - Good deeds done for the sake of Allah are accepted. We should not expect reward from anyone but Allah. 2. Following the way of the Prophet SAW we have to follow the Sunnah in this life. م Ayah 46-78 ان Ayah 62 1

The Gardens of the foremost have another set of gardens below them, which are lower in rank than the gardens of the foremost. However when a person enters these Gardens he will feel as if he is the best. This Paradise that is lower to the Paradise of the foremost is for People of the Right. There is a Hadith of Prophet SAW that there is a Paradise for As- Sabiqun that has everything made of gold i.e. the houses, the cups etc and the other garden everything made of silver. Ayah 63 In which of Allah s blessings you both deny? Who can take the people to Paradise? It is Allah. It is a big blessing when someone enters Paradise due to Allah s mercy. We should all have hope from Allah that he will take us to Paradise. Ayah 64 2

means dark green like a dark forest. When we see too many trees close to each other it م د هھھھ ا مت انن looks as if the trees are attached to each other and it seems like a carpet. This Ayah mentions the description of the trees in the Gardens of the People of the Right. It describes the leaves and branches, which are so dark green, as if turned to black. Ayah 65 In which of Allah s blessings you both deny? Ayah 66 3

it means in ف يیہ م ا springs means are ع يی ن انن water means gushing ن ضاخ ت انن In these two gardens there are no flowing rivers but there are springs that are gushing waters. Ayah 67 In which of Allah s blessings you both deny? Ayah 68 them means in both of ف يیہ م ا fruits means ف ك هھ ة trees means palm وو ن خ ل means pomegranate. In this life it is difficult to cut open a pomegranate. In Paradise we وو رر مانن don t need to struggle for anything. In Duniya there is a struggle for anything we want. However in 4

Paradise whatever we desire will come to us. The fruits that are mentioned in the Quran have benefits even in the life. In Duniya we eat to live but in Paradise we will only eat for enjoyment. Ayah 69 In which of Allah s blessings you both deny? According to a Hadith of the Prophet SAW to have a place in Paradise just one meter or bench is better than the life and everything in it. Ayah 70 means for all the ladies in Paradise this is additional information about the beautiful ladies in ف يیہ ن the Paradise. 5

means righteous ladies. They are full of goodness, good in manners and good from inside خ يی ر ٲتت What is the impact of this Ayah? The impact is that we want to be like the ladies in Paradise. In the life can we find anyone like this? No because in this life we have imperfections. Allah out of his mercy hid our imperfections and not all our bad characteristics are exposed in the Duniya. We need to rely on Allah to perfect us. If anything is imperfect in us we should rely on Allah to overcome it. Maybe a person is righteous and has faults but Allah will purify and perfect such a person and make him enter Paradise due to his righteousness. beauty. means..ح س انن the most beautiful The outer In the life we cannot find perfect beauty. In Paradise the ladies have perfect external beautiful as well. 6

Ayah 71 In which of Allah s blessings you both deny? Ayah 72 with wide eyes. ladies with lovely wide eyes with black and white color ح ورر guarded means مق ص ورر ٲتت in means ف ى means tents According to a hadith of Prophet SAW the tents in Paradise are like a hollow ٱٱل خ يی امم pearl. The width of which is 60 miles and inside there are people but no one can see each other because it is huge Now the beautiful ladies with lovely beautiful eyes ladies are guarded in the tents (Pearls). She does not have to go work. She does not need to struggle She is like a queen. She is going out but not for work for entertainment. 7

Ayah 73 In which of Allah s blessings you both deny? Ayah 74 Ayah already covered in the previous class. Please refer to notes of May 4,2013 Ayah 75 In which of Allah s blessings you both deny? Ayah 76 ٴ م ت ك يین means reclining. The people in Paradise do not have any responsibility. In the life our biggest responsibility is to carry the Deen. Our main responsibility is to worship Allah. We are in this life to know Allah and to worship him in the way that pleases him. on means ع ل ى 8

means couch This word is used for birds that are flying. Here it indicates that the couches رر ف ر فف are moving as if it is swinging.. It feels like the person is on the swing. eyes. means green. The green color is very soothing to the خ ض ر means Rich type of fabric. Another meaning for Abkar is genius. In language it is used to وو ع ب ق ر ىى refer to anything amazing. means the most beautiful The couch is extremely beautiful and nothing like it exists in the ح س انن Duniya. Allah made it especially for the righteous people 9

Ayah 77 In which of Allah s blessings you both deny? Allah by his special mercy will admit the righteous people to Paradise and will make them to live forever. Everyone in Duniya has two places. One is in Paradise and the other one is in hell. If we do good then we make our self deserve the place in Paradise and we will not take the place in hell. When a person is put in the grave. In one of the stages he is shown his place in hell and heaven. If a person is righteous even then he will be shown his place in heaven and hell both. It will be said that he saved himself from his place in hell. And for the other person who is only fulfilling his desires in this life he will be shown his place in heaven and it will be said this was your place in heaven but you did not work for it. We need to elevate ourselves by worshiping Allah. May Allah make our limbs and heart work towards Allah s obedience. Our life will be worthless without remembering Allah. Everybody had two places we need to make our selves worthy of our place in Paradise. We need to work on our faith and do good deeds. Haroon Ur Rasheed s wife Zubeida was very generous. She made a long river for people to drink. When she passed away, somebody saw her in the dream. She said she is enjoying Paradise not because of the river but because of 2 Rakah she prayed for Tahajud. Therefore we should try and make a hidden good deed. Another scholar was asked what takes him to Paradise. He replied 2 Rakah Dhuha prayer. When you do good deeds we should ask Allah for acceptance. We need to rely on Allah and pray that may Allah accept it. If good deeds come to us and Allah choose us among everyone to do the good deeds then we need to thank Allah that He chose us to do that particular deed. We should not attribute the blessing to anyone but Allah. Whenever Allah made it easy for us to do good deeds we need to thank him. 10

Ayah 78 blessed means ت ب ر كك names. means ٱٱس م rub means your رر ب ك Majesty means Owner of ذذ ىى ٱٱل ج ل ل ك ر اامم Honour means Owner of وو ٱٱلا All the names of Allah are blessed. We need our Rub to guide us and reform us. The owner of all greatness is Allah. He can give greatness to whomever he wishes. He is also the owner of the Honour. He is the only deserves to be magnified. We need to exalt him by saying Allah Akbar. He is the only one who should be magnified and exalted. Allah is the owner of Honor. People in life want to be honored. If we want honor no one can give except for Allah. No one can appreciate our good deeds and give us honor except Allah. Real honor is with Allah only. Allah gives the honor to the people of the Quran. If you have Islam and faith then that is the honor. When you worship someone most high then that is honor. 11
