BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHEDRAL Mother Church and Parish of the Diocese of Greensburg Coat of Arms of The Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic, J.C.L. Bishop of Greensburg The First Sunday of Advent ~ December 3, 2017 A Prayer as Advent Begins There is room in the world for loving; but not for hate. There is room in the world for sharing; but not for greed. There is room for justice; but not for privilege. There is room for compassion; but not for pride. Today, O God, make me brave enough to face things of which I am afraid and strong enough to overcome the temptations to do wrong instead of right. HOPE Help me to persevere enough to finish every task that is given to me to do. Help me to be kind enough to always to be ready to help others. Obedient enough to obey your voice whenever you speak to me through my conscience. Help me to live in purity; to speak the truth; to act in love; all through this Holy Advent Season. Amen. Tree of Light The Bethlehem Project will once again install a Tree of Hope to raise funds to help those facing homelessness in Greensburg and the surrounding areas. During the season of Advent donations will help light the 3000 lights on the tree which will be located in front of BSC. Each individual light represents a one dollar donation. The goal is to receive enough donations to light the tree in totality. The tree reminds us that all donations, large or small, together bring hope to those facing homelessness. Anyone wishing to donate to the Tree of Hope should send their donation to: Bethlehem Project, Tree of Hope, Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, 300 North Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601. Sports Ticket and Basket Raffle In conjunction with the Tree of Hope, the Bethlehem Project will hold a basket and sports ticket raffle on Sunday, December 17 at 1:00 PM in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Social Hall. To purchase tickets for the raffle contact Katie Zuzik at 724-834-3710, ext. 11 or email kzuzik@dioceseofgreensburg.org
