Dear Pilgrim, Thank you for your interest in making a pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville and to EWTN in Irondale. Although we are about sixty miles apart, we are united in our purpose of adoring our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament and teaching the faith, in order to draw each of our pilgrims closer to Jesus. The Shrine has an emphasis on Eucharistic Spirituality. Catechesis, in order to present and preserve our faith, is the primary focus at EWTN. As you open yourself to the Holy Spirit, you will know God more fully, love Him more faithfully, and have an increased desire to serve Him more zealously. Please read the enclosed information that will help you plan for and enjoy your pilgrimage. Highlighting a few things from the packet may be useful to you: EWTN PILGRIMAGE INFORMATION: Please contact LeAnn at 205-271-2971, ext. 3733. LODGING: Hotels near the Shrine are listed. To receive the discount rate, you must tell them when you register that you are a Shrine pilgrim. There are also guest houses listed that are one mile from the Shrine. TRANSPORTATION: If you prefer not to drive to Alabama, you may fly into the Birmingham International Airport, come on the Amtrak train, or use the Greyhound Bus service. You will need to set up your own transportation from/to these terminals. DAILY ACTIVITIES: Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in making your own personal pilgrimage each day. He is the Perfect Guide on our journey of faith. You are welcome to participate in all activities planned for each day. The daily schedule is posted at the Shrine s reception desk and inside Castle San Miguel. Also, you can visit our website: olamshrine.com. Monthly activities are posted on our online Event Calendar. GROUPS: If you would like to bring a church or school group of 10 or more people, please contact the pilgrimage department at least one month prior to your visit. There are different activities that can be offered for your group such as tours, a spiritual talk, or healing service. These are all listed in the packet. GIFT SHOP of EL NIÑO: Our gift shop has a unique selection of beautiful statues, crucifixes, rosaries, books, videos, and many other holy reminders to nurture your faith. The Shrine s gift shop is open Monday through Saturday, 8AM to 4:45PM. Closed on Sundays. 2

MOTHER SAYS : In order to show respect to Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament, as well as to show a spirit of charity to the Nuns, the Friars, and the other pilgrims who are adoring our Lord, we request the following: 1. Please observe SILENCE when you enter the Shrine. 2. We encourage you to dress comfortably, but modestly. Please do not wear sleeveless tops, tank tops, shorts, or mini-skirts/skirts above the knee. Ladies may wear slacks. 3. If at all possible, please do not leave Mass before the Blessed Sacrament has been exposed and the Nuns have finished singing at the Shrine. 4. Please do not take pictures inside the Shrine. There are many lovely pictures and postcards which you may purchase at the Gift Shop of El Niño in Castle San Miguel. Our Lord loves you perfectly, unconditionally, and eternally. As you make your arrangements to come here on pilgrimage, invite the Holy Spirit to guide you and to prepare your heart to commune with our Lord Jesus, Who is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. When you have responded to His call to come away and rest awhile, in order to be refreshed and renewed in His Living Presence, He will no doubt reveal His love to you in new ways. As you empty yourself and open your soul to Him in childlike faith, He will meet you where you are, draw you to His Sacred Heart, and bless you with every spiritual blessing that you need. He will comfort you where you hurt, heal your woundedness, forgive your sins, strengthen your faith, give you a sense of purpose, encourage you in good works, and send you back into your world with the confident assurance that He will never leave you or forsake you. He will be with you always, as you share the Good News of His Truth and love with those around you. Daily He desires to renew His Covenant with you and keep His promises to you, which were sealed with His Precious Blood. His Mercies are new and fresh each morning. What a faithful and loving God we are privileged to serve! The Nuns, the Friars, and many of us here are praying for you. God bless you, as you strive to live a holy life, pleasing to Him in a world that so desperately needs His Light, His Love, His Truth, and His Peace. We are looking forward to your coming in God s time.
