MEETINGS, ACTIVITIES, AND EVENTS FAMILY ASSISTANCE October 5, 2014 was a glorious Sunday morning to hold a groundbreaking ceremony. After two days of rain that Sunday morning the clouds broke and the sun shown down upon about 200 of us as we prayed, praised, and thanked God for granting the resources to build our building to accommodate Calvin s expanding local mission ministry. The past, present, and future were represented by the presence of its first director, Mary Van Harn;
former directors, Sylvia Wevers, Judy Bode, and Elaine Bardolph; and present director, Bobbie Talsma. Bill Boer, Dan Bode, and Kyle Visker represented Calvin Church s participation and a representative from GDK Construction was here as we turned the first shovels of dirt. The sun shown even brighter as we were led in singing the Doxology; Praise God from whom all blessings flow ending with amen and amen. We thank God and praise him for the 35-40 ladies who serve Family Assistance along with the youth group and moms who help out at special times. Thank you. PLEDGE FOR MISSIONS! Everyone, young and old, is encouraged to pledge toward the monthly mission collection for our missionaries and causes around the world. Whether you are 5 or 50 or 95, and feel called to pledge 5 cents to $500 each month for the next year toward our mission causes, each pledge is welcomed. It is called a faith pledge because you make it in reliance that IT is a sensible goal that God will provide you the means to fulfill. We collect the mission pledge slips today in the offering, but you may also place them anytime during October in the Mission Committee s mailbox. Extra slips are at the information desk. Today ADULT EDUCATION: David Gras of International Christian Ministry, a partner of Renita Reed, will speak on Business as Mission which encourages and promotes Christian ethics in business dealings around the world. SENIORS FELLOWSHIP BREAKFAST: A breakfast get-together is held the second Monday of each month for seniors. Plan to meet at 8:30 am tomorrow morning at the Omelette Shoppe in Breton Village.
