Hot chili and cold beer what better way to face the chill of winter than to share your culinary skills with your friends at the Oratory! Chili with toppings, hotdogs, drinks and dessert will be available. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 winners! If you would like to enter your favorite homemade chili in the contest or would like more information, please contact the Rectory. Pricing and more details to follow. R If you wish to become a member of St. Francis de Sales Oratory, please return a registration card to the Oratory with your contact information, and we will send you a form for registration. Through your membership you can help support our work at the Oratory most effectively and allow us to be in contact with you. Prayers and monetary sacrifices are very necessary for the upkeep and restoration of our church as well as the development of our community. Please pick up one of the registration cards which are available at the entrances of the church. N S : 10:00 M H M T T B C M K. W Canon Wiener will explain the use of the Latin- English Daily Missal. The talk will cover the principal structure of the Missal and its use on Sundays, as well as on feasts and weekdays. The talk will take 30-45 minutes. Please bring your Missals. N S C In order to foster the tradition which comes down to us from St. Francis of Assisi of creating Nativity scenes during the Christmas season, the faithful are invited to post pictures of their household nativity scenes on the board in the church basement as part of a nativity scene contest. Alternatively, you may email your image to sfds@institutechrist-king.org. The winner will be chosen by the Oratory clergy during the chili cook-off on the Feast of Saint Francis de Sales. On this same day, St. Michael s Patrol and the Company of the Immaculate will offer a brief concert of Christmas carols. H C H We are looking for gentlemen who are willing to help with setting up the coffee hour and selling donuts after both Masses. The existing group of 8 volunteers needs the support of 4-6 additional men, which would allow us to schedule each member of this important volunteer group only once every 2-3 months. For more information please contact the Rectory office at (314) 771-3100.
T M C G! Only two weeks ago a generous benefactor offered a $1,000 Christmas matching gift for the Windows Fund. Several Oratory faithful stepped forward to meet that challenge. As a result of their generosity, we have raised $2,435.00, which enabled us to receive the promised $1,000 before the December 31st deadline. Thank you to all who were so thoughtful and generous in helping us meet our obligations toward the Frei Company! 7 54 R N The 54 day Novena will end on the feast of our patron, St. Francis de Sales, on January 29. Please, take this opportunity to pray for the Church, our country and our families and friends. I A The remaining balance of $48,812.25 for the budget year 2015/16 has been paid from funds set aside for other pressing projects around the campus. Our 2016-2017 Insurance assessment is: $89,625.00 So far we have received $26,334.00 for this fiscal year that has just begun. If you would like to donate, please use the envelope Insurance Assessment which is mailed out monthly to all registered members of the Oratory. P G Please remember St. Francis de Sales Oratory in your Will or Living Trust. An appropriate Will or Trust provision would be: "I give to The Friends of St. Francis de Sales Oratory, Inc., St. Louis, Missouri, for the Oratory's unrestricted use." U : S. J W R Thanks to your generous support, we are able to pay off the first half of the invoice for repairs done to the St. Joseph windows. In order to pay off the other half we still need to raise $24,507.46. Please help us to continue to cover the cost on this important project which concerns both the integrity of our church building and the efficiency of our heating in cooling. Our hope is to be able to begin the repair of another set of windows soon. Without your generous help we will not be able to continue this important work on our precious stain glass windows. If you would like to donate toward the repair of these windows, please contact the rectory or make a note with your donation. We thank you again for your prayers and your great generosity! R C G T! Dear Oratory Faithful, Many thanks to all of you who participated so very generously in this year s Christmas gifts for the Oratory rectory! We canons and Abbé Alex are very honored and happy to have received a high quality camera which will serve in the years to come in our efforts to document the life of this Institute community in excellent pictures. We were able to employ the camera for the first time already at Midnight Mass. As a second, most useful and needed gift you gave us two high quality vacuum cleaners which have been incorporated immediately in the Oratory cleaning equipment. Thank you for all your generous and thoughtful support of our work. Merry Christmas! I U O R P I Work on the organ continues throughout this month and next. One of the most noticeable improvements is the elimination of the many airleaks. It now runs much quieter when turned on. This has caused the air pressure to return to near normal levels causing the existing pipe-work to speak with more clarity. We have raised over $57,000 of the $320,000 needed to complete the restoration. Your prayerful generosity is appreciated. Canon Michael K. Wiener and community W V L U T Y C C The community at St. Francis de Sales Oratory is always pleased when new visitors come to this beautiful church to join us in the celebration of Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Form. Please join us and the coffee and donut are on us. SCRIP G C Get your SCRIP cards NOW! Help the Oratory while you shop.

TO ALL OUR GUESTS Canon Wiener and the faithful of St. Francis de Sales Oratory welcome you, and hope that your time in the Cathedral of South St. Louis may be an opportunity to share in the tradition of the Roman Catholic Faith. Please enjoy the beauty of this building dedicated to St. Francis de Sales, co-patron of the INSTITUTE OF CHRIST THE KING SOVEREIGN PRIEST. According to liturgical tradition, and the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, Holy Communion is received kneeling and on the tongue. All visitors who are not of the Catholic faith are welcome to join us in prayer, but are requested not to receive Holy Communion. Because the reception of Holy Communion is the sign of Divine and Ecclesial unity, only practicing Catholics who are free of mortal sin, and in full communion with the Catholic Church should present themselves for Holy Communion. We pray for the full visible unity among all Christians. To receive more information about the Oratory or if you desire to become a member of the Catholic Church, contact the rectory.
