HOLY, HOLY, HOLY
September 25th October 4th Holy, Holy, Holy SERMON OUTLINE Isaiah 6:1 8 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 5 Woe to me! I cried. I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty. 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for. 1. Vs 8 The Bold Ambassador SERMON NOTES
Holy, Holy, Holy WA R M U P So often we get hung up on what s going on within the details of our lives and our relationships. If our eyes are focused on what s happening here for too long, we run the risk of forgetting what s happening in Heaven. God lifted Isaiah s eyes from himself and his people to the throne of heaven. There may have been confusion and unrest on earth, but there was perfect peace in heaven: God was seated in majestic power and glory. Focusing on Heaven and seeking God s face is incredibly important for believers because when we connect with God in this way, it does not make us proud; rather, it humbles and breaks us, which is right where God wants us to be. If you were going to try your best to describe God s holiness how would you do so? Do you think your view is remotely accurate? Why or why not? What might be missing? DIG I N Read Isaiah 6:1 8 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? And I said, Here am I. Send me!
Holy, Holy, Holy REFLECTIONS Isaiah 6:1 8 How could an accurate view of God s holiness change one s perception on individual sin and or corporate sin? Many Christians today have a faulty view of sin, which affects their intimacy with God and others. How could one begin to address or fix the tainted/ faulty view of sin? What does a bold ambassador look like? (Eph 6:19-20) If Paul asked for prayer in this area do you think he felt competent as a representative of Jesus? Why or why not? TAKE IN Ask Yourself Based on the image of the Seraphim touching Isaiah s lips with a live coal in order to bring cleansing, I have to ask myself, Do I desire the removal of sin in my life or do I just want to hide my sin and pretend all is well with my soul? In what specific areas could you grow where you would dare to desire the purifying touch of the coal? If all believers responded to the Atonement of Christ the way Isaiah responded to his forgiveness what would the Local body look like? Are you willing to say Here am I Lord, send me?
Holy, Holy, Holy PRAY UP Ask God Father, my desire is to seek Your holiness in a way that will humble me before You. Open my heart so I can see You high and lifted up. Father, help see that my sin doesn t have to get in the way of being in Your presence. Father, show me where I need to grow to be willing to experience Your healing touch. PRAYER REQUESTS
