M. STATEMENT OF FAITH Preamble: Knights Preparatory School Inc. ( Knights ) is a school with an authentic Christian ethos. Knights beliefs as represented by its Statement of Faith below, provides the foundation for the vision, mission, policies, academic programmes and activities at Knights. All learners and Knights staff are required to adhere to the tenets set forth in the Statement of Faith at all times during their tenure at Knights. Knights academic programmes and activities will frequently espouse its uncompromising Christian values using Biblical examples. Prayer is encouraged and practised regularly by learners and Knights staff. Praise and worship takes place during the school day. All learners and Knights staff are required to participate in devotions, prayer, Bible Education, praise and worship. At Knights, this is what we believe: The Bible is the infallible Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and contains every answer to man's problems. 2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:20,21 There is one God, existing eternally in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. John 10:30; John 14:26; Philippians 2:5-7 God is Love and He loves all people. It is His desire to reach out to those who are poor, oppressed, widowed or orphaned, and heals the broken-hearted. Psalm 68:5,6; 1 John 4:16 Man is created in the image of God but separated from God by sin. Without Jesus we cannot have a relationship with God. Genesis 1:26; 1 Timothy 2:5 We can have a personal relationship with God through salvation, God's free gift to man. It is not a result of what we do, but it is only available through God's unearned favour. By admitting we have sinned and believing in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, and accepting Him as Lord, we can spend eternity with God. Ephesians 2:8,9; Romans 5:1; Romans 3:24 We believe in water baptism, as taught and demonstrated by Jesus, as the way for believers to identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4; Matthew 3:13-17 The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a gift from God. He helps empower the believer to develop the character of Christ and live every day in God's will. Matthew 3:11; Acts 2:4 2 God gives all believers spiritual gifts. They are for the strengthening of God's people (the Church) and proof of God's existence and power to unbelievers. The gifts of the Spirit are active and relevant today. 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; 1 Peter 4:10 Sanctification is the ongoing process of allowing God's character to be developed in us. Romans 6:19; Galatians 5:22-25 Divine healing is active in the lives of people today through Jesus, who is the Healer. Healing includes physical, mental, emotional and spiritual restoration. Luke 9:11; Matthew 9:35; Acts 10:38; Matthew 10:1 The Bible describes hell as a real place. It is a place of suffering and a place of permanent separation from God for those who die without accepting Christ. God's desire is that no one be separated from Him for eternity, which is why He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth. Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 20:12-15; John 3:16-18 Jesus will return and take all those who have accepted Him as Saviour to be with Him for eternity. Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; Hebrews 9:28 We/I, and confirm that we/i are the parent/s of. We/I confirm that we/i have fully read and understood the Statement of Faith and preamble thereto, set out above, and confirm that we/i and my/our child/children agree to unconditionally abide by the tenets of faith set out therein and its ongoing application at Knights. N. AFTERHOURS AND AFTERCARE PROCEDURES ALL PARENTS ARE TO READ AND SIGN THIS DOCUMENT REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOUR CHILD ATTENDS AFTERCARE OR NOT. We have many children registered in our Aftercare programme, we would like to take the opportunity to explain the Aftercare procedure in detail in order to avoid any confusion. Please read through this letter with great care and should you have any questions please contact Juanita Schippers or Sarah Moodley. 1) Registration: Registration for Aftercare will be done on an annual basis. Every child that attends aftercare whether they attend in a full time or adhoc capacity, is required to fill in a registration form. If there is a chance that your child will attend aftercare at all for whatever reason, a form needs to be completed. This is for record purposes and so that we have all your child s details should we need to contact you or should there be an emergency. Please complete your form and return it to the aftercare centre if you have not done so already. 2) Aftercare Times: Full Day aftercare times are from 2:00pm (Monday to Thursday) and 1:30pm (Friday) until 5:30pm Half Day aftercare times are from 2:00pm (Monday to Thursday) and 1:30pm (Friday) until 3:30pm Extra Mural waiting facility This is for a child that is waiting for an extra mural to commence (limited to a 1 hour waiting period) 3) Aftercare Billing Rates: Full Time Monthly aftercare rate: includes lunch, homework supervision and games/craft activities is from 1:30pm/2:00pm until 5:30pm Billing - R1533 per month Adhoc Full Day aftercare rate: includes lunch, homework supervision and games/craft activities is from 1:30pm/2:00pm until 5:30pm Billing - R120p/d Adhoc Half Day aftercare rate: includes lunch, homework supervision and games/craft activities is from 1:30pm/2:00pm until 3:30pm Billing R70p/d Extra Mural Waiting Facility aftercare rate: Does NOT include lunch For a school extra mural and is limited to one hour Billing R35p/d PLEASE NOTE: Aftercare runs from 13:30-17:30, any child collected after these hours will be charged a late penalty fee of R180 for every 30 minutes thereafter. 4) Aftercare waiting class procedure: Pre-School Waiting Class starts as from 13:00 and ends at 13:30. Please collect your pre-school child from the Waiting Class area at the Pre-School building. There is NO Waiting Class from Grade 1 to 3, as their school day ends at 2:00pm on a Monday and Tuesday due to integrated sport and 1:30pm on a Wednesday to Friday with some selected extra murals ending at 2:30pm. Please note that the Waiting Class facility is available for siblings only. If your child is not booked into Aftercare, has no siblings at our school or is not attending an extra mural activity on a particular day, he/she must be collected at the correct dismissal time. Children not collected on time will be sent to Aftercare and parents will be charged accordingly. There is no Waiting Class on Friday on Fridays as the whole school finishes at 13:30. 9

N. AFTERHOURS AND AFTERCARE PROCEDURES 7) Transport companies: We also seem to have a problem concerning the various transport companies not collecting children straight after school or an extramural activity. Please note that it is the parent s responsibility to communicate the correct times to the company concerned, ensuring that your child is not left unattended. Children found to be waiting more than 15 minutes after their pickup time, will be sent to Aftercare and parents will be charged according to the Adhoc rate. This is only to ensure the safety of your child while on the school s property. Drivers may not send another pupil to sign out an Aftercare pupil. This is the driver s responsibility and children will not be handed over. 8) General: Please do not put your child in a position where they have to hide and lie to the supervising teachers in order to avoid being sent to Aftercare. This is not what we teach our children and we do not want to encourage this behaviour at Knights. Please remind your child not to wait at the palisade fencing/ parking lot if they are not being fetched directly after school. In the event of you running late, please contact the office and arrangements will be made to assist your child. Aftercare children must be signed out by the parent, au pair or driver if collected from the Homework Class or Sports field. This minimises the risk of incorrect invoicing and ensures your child s safety at the same time. Please be assured that Knights Aftercare Centre provides a warm, supportive environment for your children to relax, do homework and enjoy their afternoons. We hope that we can work together, making our school a better and safer place. Please do not hesitate to contact Sarah Moodley if you have any queries or concerns. Aftercare can also be reached via the school switchboard press 5 for the Aftercare Extension, but only after 1pm. Please feel free to contact the following people should you have any queries regarding aftercare. Juanita Schippers Deputy Principal jschippers@knightsprep.co.za Sarah Moodley Aftercare Manageress aftercare@knightsprep.co.za O. SCHOOL FUNCTIONS AND SPORT FIXTURES PROCEDURE 1) After School Functions and Sport Fixtures: In the past we had a major problem with children being left after functions for over an hour after an event had ended. This is a serious safety risk for all the parties concerned. This year we have had to put strict procedures in place to ensure the safety of both the learners and teachers alike. For this reason, we will be implementing a late penalty for parents who do not fetch their child timeously after a school function. While we understand a parent being a few minutes late, we would like to avoid the school being used as a babysitting service for certain parents. The same penalty applies to sport fixtures. Should your child not be picked up at the time stipulated in the letter, they will either be sent to our Aftercare facility (during aftercare hours), or a late penalty will apply. The late penalty for 2017 will be R200 per half an hour after the stipulated end time of a function or fixture. Please could we ask you to complete the reply slip below and return it to your child s register teacher. Yours in Christ Michelle McMenamin Principal 10
