John 12:20-26 20 Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks. 21 So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, Sir, we wish to see Jesus.
22 Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. 23 And Jesus answered them, The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies,
it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. 25 Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me;
it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. 25 Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me;
and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

Romans 8:29-31 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

2 Corinthians 12:7-11 7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited.
8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses,
so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 11 I have been a fool!
You forced me to it, for I ought to have been commended by you. For I was not at all inferior to these super-apostles, even though I am nothing.

1 Peter 4:12-13 12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.
13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
Session 1 The Venerable Canon Dr. Jack Lumanog

(3) Our compassion and understanding for others suffering grows.

Jeremiah 15:19 If you extract the precious from the worthless, you will become My spokesman.
Session 1 The Venerable Canon Dr. Jack Lumanog
The world is full of conflicts and full of things that cannot be reconciled but there are moments when we can transcend and reconcile and embrace the whole mess, and that s what I mean by Hallelujah.
That regardless of what the impossibility of the situation is, there is a moment when you open your mouth and throw open your arms and you embrace the thing and you just say, Hallelujah! Blessed is the name.
The only moment that you can live here comfortably in these absolutely irreconcilable conflicts is in this moment when you embrace it all and you say, Look, I don t understand. at all Hallelujah!
That s the only moment that we live here fully as human beings. - Leonard Cohen

Psalm 147 Hallelujah! 1 For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.
Psalm 147 3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 16 He gives snow like wool; he scatters frost like ashes. 17 He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs; who can stand before his cold?
Psalm 147 18 He sends out his word, and melts them; he makes his wind blow and the waters flow. 19 He declares his word to Jacob, his statutes and rules to Israel.
Psalm 147 20 He has not dealt thus with any other nation; they do not know his rules. Hallelujah!

I ve heard there was a secret chord That David played, it pleased the Lord. But You don t love us for our music, do You? Sin goes like this: The fourth, the fifth, Adam s fall, the major rift, The baffled king neglecting Hallelujah.
Chorus: Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
Nathan said, I see your lust. You violate a soldier s trust. Your pride, your pomp, at night they overthrew you. You steal, you kill, you get your way, But God has said, your child will pay, And from your lips He ll draw the Hallelujah.
Chorus: Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
David prayed, Have mercy, Lord, You saved me from Goliath s sword. Yes, I lived for self before I knew you. Now, more evil in your sight, So I give up, I cannot fight. Mine s a cold and broken Hallelujah.
Chorus: Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
Blood your hyssop, I ll be clean. Wash me so my sin s not seen. Give me of your Holy Spirit, will you? Create in me a new, clean heart. Give me now a strong, fresh start, So every breath I draw is Hallelujah.
Chorus: Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
You don t delight in sacrifice. You don t excuse our secret vice. You want from us a broken spirit, do you? You ve shown me what I did was wrong. I ll stand before You, Lord of song, With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah.
Chorus: Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
