Crown Newsletter CROWN OF LIFE LUTHERAN CHURCH PASTOR KEITH LEMLEY On June 8, 2016 the Confirmands had their questions given to them by Jim Leihos. This was followed by a wonderful dinner provided by Joyce and Fred Bane. On June 12, 2016 was Rite of Confirmation. We witnessed our Confirmands re-affirm their Baptismal vows in the rite of Confirmation. This too was followed with refreshments and fellowship. Please congratulate our three Confirmands, Anneliese Jackson, Kenneth Jackson and Sophia Gugel!!! Sophia Gugel Kenneth Jackson Anneliese Jackson

Page 2 Preschool News Nothing could be better than summer in Michigan! Along with the beautiful weather comes lots of planning for the next school year. Renovations continue on the Jr. Kindergarten room, and we are looking forward to this great addition to our programs. I continue to show interested parents around, and share our mission of spreading the love of Jesus, while providing a great foundation for their child s education. We are again offering four mini-camps this summer, for children 3-5 years old. They are: Royal Tea Party June 22 9:00-11:45 a.m. Campground June 29 9:00-11:45 a.m. Going to the Zoo July 13 9:00-11:45 a.m. Bugs, Bugs, Bugs July 20 9:00-11:45 a.m. For information on any of our classes or the mini-camps, or to tour the preschool, please call 248-652-7720. I am always happy to give tours and brag a little about our terrific programs! In His Love and Joy, Mary Tessmer Preschool Director & Lead Teacher Crown of Life Preschool A Tour Through the Bible that Leads to Christ Mondays 7:00 pm 8:00 pm Beginning June 13, 2016 Author, Chaplain Fred Woodward will be our tour guide. Have you ever wanted to read the Bible but thought you'd have a difficult time understanding it? Do not be afraid: Chaplain Fred Woodward is here to be your guide. Easy-to-read and with clear explanations, readers will study the books of the Bible and build a foundation of biblical comprehension. A great book for those who do not know Jesus Christ and for those who want to deepen their relationship with Him. We will be taking July 4 off and returning on Monday July 11.

Page 4 Car & Bike Show Charity - This charity event is sponsored each year in memory of Nathon Lojko by his family and the cost to enter is a gift for a child. They donate all of the toys that they receive to "Gifts For All God's Children" which are given to children at Christmas. The event is August 13th at MD's Sports Tavern & Grill on N. State Rd. in Davison. If you love cars, you can see hot rods, street cars, motorcycles, race cars and more at this event! See the poster in the narthex for additional information. Crown of Life Welcomes St Mina and Pope Kyrillos VI Coptic Orthodox The Church Council has decided to host an Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church. Members of this church have fled Egypt because of persecution by Islam in Egypt. In many cases their lives or the lives of loved one were threatened. In some case their relatives have been murdered simply because they are Christians living and worshiping in what now is an intolerant Islamic State. Thank God, they are free to worship the one true God in America. The church, St Mina and Pope Kyrillos VI Coptic Orthodox Church will meet at Crown of Life on Saturday mornings, for worship, from 8AM to about noon, and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 PM for Bible Study. Ordinarily they worship on Sundays, but they will worship on Saturdays to not interfere with our worship and Sunday activities. They will conduct Bible Studies on a different day during Advent and Lent. This will not change our mid-week services in those seasons. They have hired a janitorial service to clean up each time they use our facilities. They are paying to use our church. Please make them welcome when you meet. Thank you to the people that came out for the clean up day. Your time and hard work is greatly appreciated. Sherwood Forest put mulch around the trees and bushes. Thank you to Carol Thomas and her crew for making the grounds look nice.

Page 5 Crown Jewels Outing in July - On Wednesday, July 27th we will be touring the home and gardens of Edsel & Eleanor Ford. This year there is a special exhibit celebrating the 100th anniversary of their marriage called Down the Aisle: 100 years of Ford Family Weddings. The exhibit has fourteen bridal gowns worn by generations of Ford women on display for the first time. After our tour at 11:00 we will have lunch in the cafeteria. Then we will see the garden areas. The cost is $12 for adults and $11 for seniors. We will carpool from the church at 9:30 a.m. The signup sheet is on the Crown Jewels Board. Check out www.fordhouse.org for a lot of additional information about the family, house and grounds. Christmas in July Villa Penna July 19, 2016 Gifts For All God's Children's fourth annual Christmas in July dinner and auction will be held starting at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 19 at Villa Penna in Sterling Heights. This fun filled, nostalgic event celebrates 28 years of meeting needs and sharing the love of Christ with children living in metro Detroit s inner cities. Christmas in July provides funds for school supplies, summer camps, Christmas gifts, holiday events and now a tutoring program for at-risk children. Pastor John W. Gunn, Executive Director of Power Company Kids Club, will be the guest speaker at the event with special entertainment by Joe Recchia, Sue Pinto, Christmas carolers, Santa and more!! Tickets are $70 each or $650 for a table of 10. For ticket and sponsorship opportunities see Judy Mann.
