... Helping to Grow in Faith T wo weeks ago, 87 of our children received their first Holy Communion. Last Wednesday, 83 of our youth received the Sacrament of Confirmation. These are significant events in the lives of those candidates, their families and our parish community. They are milestones in the faith life of those candidates. However, they do not indicate a cessation of their faith learning and development. These milestones are meant to spur us on in our journey of faith. The receiving of these sacraments is not meant to discontinue religious education classes or being part of Life Teen or the Youth Ministry that St. Francis offers. But, instead, they help to strengthen our resolve to grow in faith. My congrats to the candidates. As we conclude the religious education this CCD year, I would like to express my thanks to Daniel, the coordinator for Elementary Faith Formation, and to Janet, the coordinator for Middle School and High School Faith Formation. They were both able to accomplish their tasks only with the help of numerous volunteer catechists and helpers. My deep appreciation goes to each and every one of the volunteers for their commitment to faith and evangelization. You have helped our young people to grow in their faith life. Your sacrifices will go a long way to bear abundant fruits in their lives. We could not accomplish what we did without your help. My thanks also to the parents and Godparents/sponsors of the candidates who received their first Eucharist and Confirmation. The role that you play in their faith journey is very important. I appreciate the sacrifices you, too, have made and the commitment you have shown in the sacramental preparations of your children. Their growth in faith is much dependent on your life, example and involvement. We will be offering Vacation Bible School the second week of July. Make sure your children have an opportunity to take part in this fun event. A huge thanks to all who helped with CCD classes this year! A couple of weeks ago, we had a potluck dinner to welcome all the newcomers to our parish. It was a great event that brought many together. My special thanks go to the Fellowship committee, the Evangelization committee and the RCIA team who helped to organize this event so successfully. We plan to continue to do this periodically to welcome the newcomers. A hearty welcome is extended to all the newcomers to our parish. Father Jose
