A Letter from Saturday s Kitchen Dear Friends: A heartfelt thank you to everyone who so graciously and generously contributed to and supported our Christmas in July campaign. We also thank the many people who helped solicit funds at our Galleria Love Tree. Currently, our campaign grossed $18,522.25 (Cathedral Love Tree - $650, and Galleria Love Tree $4710.25). Local businesses, organizations and private donors funded the remainder. So you know how your donations helped, we have included a list of our disbursements: St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank - $4,000 Family Kitchen weekday meals - $4,000 Saturday Kitchen weekday meals - $4,000 $6,000 will be divided between 19 of the 25 Food Pantries throughout the area. This includes all 11 Pantries in the immediate Johnstown area and the larger ones in the surrounding communities. $200 - $600 will be disbursed to each depending on the number of people they assist. Nanty Glo and West End are the largest and will receive an additional $200 for the Holidays. Although we were very successful with this campaign, there are a few things we want to share. It costs $300 a day (wholesale) to serve a meal to over 200 people daily at the Family Kitchen. Attendance at the Pantries is up from 20 to 31%, and funding has been drastically reduced. It costs St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank around $26,000 every six weeks to furnish food for these Pantries. I ve also included an article (elsewhere in this Bulletin) about our group, explaining who we are and what we do. We will be meeting again on September 22 nd. Again, we extend a most heartfelt thank you, and may God bless all of you dearly. Remermber, together we do make a difference. With much love and appreciation, Joan, Ron and Saturday s Kitchen +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SATURDAY KITCHEN WILL MEET NEXT ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 AT 7 pm IN OUR AUDITORIUM. NEW MEMBERS ARE WELCOME. LOOK! FREE MONEY FOR THE CATHEDRAL! Here s how Community Days 2011 is taking place once again. You can shop at the Bon Ton on Friday and Saturday, November 11 and 12. The coupon booklet sells for $5.00. The Cathedral keeps the entire $5.00. The person purchasing the booklet gets a coupon for $10 off an item of $10 or more. It s a win for the Cathedal and a win for the shopper! All proceeds are for the Cathedral. Buy your book from Pani Baranik after Liturgy over the next 10 weeks.
