New Hope News New Ho pe Ba ptist Church 7 5 Cogswell Avenue, Pe ll C i ty, AL 35125 A Note from Your Pastor... Dear Brothers and Sisters, I get asked this question from time to time What do you expect from the church body, Bro. Paul? My answer is usually sounds like this: I expect the church to be the church Growing in God s Word in knowledge and growing by living that knowledge out in our daily lives. I expect that we should put our relationship with God first and that we should love our neighbor as we love ourselves. I expect Christians to be long suffering with each other. Our relationship with God can overcome differences and sharpen each other in time If we take the time to really know each other. Love covers over a multitude of sins. I expect Sunday School teachers to teach the Bible in their classes and not get diverted to opinions that can divide us. I expect them to support and participate in as many opportunities of worship and study that we offer outside of Sunday School at New Hope. All teachers (and other Christians too!) need the sharpening and the encouragement from the scriptures. Plus a teacher should be a humble and sacrificial example of what they teach by being active in many areas of the church. I expect Deacons to lead in personal accountability, in being present, and to lead in serving those in the church. Their attitude should be one of commitment, calling, compassion, and caring. They are the servers, the peace makers, and the ones who work as a team to keep the Spirit of the church vivacious! I expect myself and our staff to lead in equipping, and encouraging and evangelizing those around us. We are to be steeped in God s Word, and are to be first in accommodating people to do Christ s work in the church, in the community and around the world! I expect the church to be there for God s will and for each other. So during vacation time, if you miss fellowshipping due to being out of town, know that we miss you and hope that you have a great time! But please don t get out of the Godly ministry that He is doing for you and through you. Get back involved and know that He, Jesus, is counting on you! We are seeing God move in tremendous ways in the life of New Hope Baptist. Baptisms and lives being put together through God answering prayers! Jesus in Matthew 9 tells us to pray that God will send workers to the harvest. Each day, let me encourage you to pray for 4 things: 1. Self pray that God would cleanse us and give us a new attitude of spending time with God. If we do that our relationships with Him and others change. 2. Servants whether you voted for our City, State, or Government leaders, we must pray for them to line up with God s standards. 3. Souls pray that lost people would be saved and that we would gratefully share the Gospel with them. 4. Service pray that God would help us to be involved in service to Him inside the church and outside as the church. 2nd Charlie Barber 9th Mitch Bartee 16th Praying from Pews 23rd Greg Compton 30th Jim Williams Start Serving faithfully in June!

Volume 6, Issue 6 Page 3 Musical Moments with Laurie It is summer! Hallelujah! Three of my favorite words from the past were June, July, and August, but now it is just June and July that are free for most Alabama teachers. We return in August back to, but in those off weeks, teachers have many opportunities to attend workshops and get wiser in their field of teaching. I will be able to do that as well, and I coach girls sports, so I also get time with them in the summer for training and conditioning. In other words, there is work to be done. I pray we remember as we head into the summer ministries at New Hope that there is still work to be done. May we keep our eyes focused on our high calling from the Lord Jesus. May we always strive to not just attend worship services, but participate and worship. If you are not a member of a Sunday School, now is the time to get involved in a small group Bible study. I know the weather will be beautiful and the lake will be calling your name, but grab your family and friends and invite people you really don t know, and worship with us each Sunday and Wednesday and hear the Lord calling your name. What a blessing to have the opportunity to freely worship the King of Kings and Lord of Lords in Pell City, Alabama! Many people in the world do not have that freedom. Praise the Lord for what He is doing in our local body of believers and the church world-wide! I want to encourage you to also join the choir and be a part of our music ministry. You are very much welcome to worship with us through a solo, playing an instrument, or simply praising His name with the entire choir. He deserves our best ALL year long! Praise and Worship Opportunities Anyone who did not get their picture made, will have the opportunity on June 9th, immediately after the morning worship in the FLC Gym, on the stage. Please come ready to have your picture made. From the Desk of Jacque Too Busy! Psalm 39:6 Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be. As summer approaches our thoughts naturally turn to fun and recreation, to vacations and rest. But, for many of us, the summer is just a time when we exchange on kind of busy for another! We rush to practices, rehearsals, trips, vacations, parties, events, and before you know it, autumn will be here and we will all be wondering where the summer went! While it isn t sinful to be busy, we can turn our busyness into sin when we don t find time for God. We all know how important it is to spend time with God, but we also seem to be very willing to skip those times with God to fit all the other activities of summer. Schedules fill up quickly, work consumes our thoughts at night, family and friends compete for our attention, and then there s this thing called sleep. How do we fit it all in? What do we let drop? What do you do when you simply need 36 hours in a day instead of 24? There can be many reasons and causes for our busy lives. But, no matter the season, no matter the busy schedule we have, God demands our worship. In the middle of Psalm 39:6, there is a phrase that jumps out at me, in vain they rush about. This summer, make sure that all your time is not wasted in a vain rush by making time to worship at church, read your bible at home, and pray no matter where you are! We are NEVER too busy for God! at New Hope Baptist Church June 10-14 (Soccer & Baseball) July 15-18 (Basketball & Football) Time: 9:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. in the Gym Fee: $2 per athlete / Grades: K-8th To register, please call the church office Date: June 9th 13th Time: 6:00 8:30 p.m. Place: FLC Gym Volunteers Needed! at 338-2645.
