INTRODUCTION Cngratulatins n yur appintment as Cnference Missins Directr (CMD) and welcme t the Wrld Missins Ministries Divisin (WMMD) team. We appreciate yur cmmitment and service t yur cnferences and WMMD. The future hlds many pprtunities fr yur cntributin t missins in IPHC Ministries. Each CMD is vital t the success f his/her cnference and lcal church missins prgram. If the CMD is t develp and direct a truly dynamic cnference missins initiative, his/her visin must cmmunicate Gd s plan fr the wrld: the message f salvatin thrugh Jesus t all peples f the earth, and that every Christian has a respnsibility t participate. This happens thrugh nurturing an Acts 1:8 mentality and strategy. Yur visin and cmmitment t this leadership rle will greatly influence pastrs and lcal churches t be part f a ministry that tuches ver 100 natins and numerus peple grups. One s ultimate plan fr the cnference must encmpass a strategy that includes all lcal churches. Our mtt and gal is t see 100% participatin amng all cnferences and lcal churches. Is this realistic? In the cntext that every church can d smething n matter hw small, it is nt unreasnable t prmte and encurage everyne t find their part in the Great Cmmissin. Participatin and persnal invlvement cincides with Gd s Biblical mandate t the whle Church. The rle f the CMD includes significant duties, and it requires time and energy t accmplish this undertaking. Hwever, it is an extremely rewarding ministry full f blessings and pprtunities that tuch and change lives wrldwide. Yu will experience the jy f being a key part f what Gd is ding thrugh WMMD in ur cmbined effrts f glbal evangelizatin. In yur rle, yu actually becme Wrld Changers by influencing this present age and advancing the kingdm f Gd glbally fr future generatins. The CMD guide is designed t: Prvide basic instructins, tls, and ideas fr develping a structured missins plan within yur cnference Crrelate with the Lcal Church Missins Manual (LCMM) In ver 100 years f missins experience, we have fund that pastrs, lcal churches, and cnferences participate mre when prvided infrmatin and given avenues fr invlvement. Often, there is a lack f participatin simply because peple are unifrmed. Please read this guide, as well as the LCMM, and remember that yu have an pprtunity t challenge yur cnference and lcal leadership t a higher level f invlvement and accmplishment. Thank yu fr accepting this respnsibility and assignment. Enjy the jurney! 2

ROLE & DUTIES OF A CONFERENCE MISSIONS DIRECTOR Pints f interest and suggestins t develp a missins emphasis within yur cnference and a strategy fr lcal churches: Develp and maintain a cnference missins bard/cuncil. Appintment f key leaders t facilitate and rganize yur missins emphasis is essential t success and verall cnference participatin. The CMD and the cnference missins bard/cuncil shuld cntact and help each church, and encurage pastrs assign a lcal church missins directr. One persn in a lcal church can make a difference in unifying the cngregatin t be mre missins-minded. Appint district missins directrs. This structure is essential in any cnference, especially in heavily ppulated r large gegraphical areas where travel and driving time may present difficulties. Cllabrate with WMMD t priritize yur cnference s invlvement with WMMD prjects and ministries. CMD Training Attend the annual CMD meeting prvided by WMMD. It is a must t knw and understand the current visin f WMMD. Learn ways t effectively cmmunicate an verall wrking knwledge f WMMD. Understand the American sending base, as well as the peratin f ur field ministries verseas. Attend Passprt t Missins, Missins Fest, and ther training sessins t increase knwledge f IPHC missins pprtunities. Setting Gals Each CMD is respnsible fr carrying the visin f WMMD, which is t develp, encurage, and empwer pastrs, lcal missins directrs, and their cngregatins t fulfill their part f the Great Cmmissin. In ding s, new and fresh perspectives will materialize. Establishing gals allws lcal pastrs and churches d their part in the verall picture. Often, they may nt see hw their bite-size piece may influence the bigger picture. Cnnecting all the smaller pieces makes reaching any larger gal mre achievable! 3

EVENTS Events prvide a great way t prmte missins in yur cnference. When rganizing such events, review the fllwing suggestins: T avid lw attendance and/r cancellatin f meetings, cnsider lcal weather patterns when determining dates. Organize and prmte annual missins cnferences and special events weeks in advance. D nt wait until the last minute! Think big and plan fr success. Develp a cnference missins calendar shwing all scheduled events. Pst this nline and publish in newsletters t reach the vast majrity f yur cnference. Als, crdinate it with WMMD. Set up a WMMD bth/display table at the annual Camp Meeting and ther cnference events. Great Cmmissin Meals It is best t schedule Great Cmmissin Meals (GCMs) during the first quarter f the year. GCMs are vital t the verall cmmunicatin f IPHC missins. Setting dates in advance prvides WMMD the pprtunity t schedule speakers and missinaries fr yur events. Submit yur dates fr the fllwing year at the annual CMD Meeting and/r cntact the Office f Itineratin and Glbal Outreach. Glbal Outreach Set gals! Prmte early in the year s each pastr and church has ample time t achieve their gal. Missinaries at Great Cmmissin Meals GCMs prvide missinaries an pprtune time t present their ministries t lcal church leadership. They use this setting t set up bths/displays, hand ut prayer cards, and schedule church services. Allw missinaries 2-3 minutes t speak. The pastrs are given a shrt cmmercial f what the cngregatin will receive. If nly ne r tw missinaries are present, mre time can be allcated. Encurage pastrs t schedule missinaries t visit their church. 4

Faith Cmmitment Faith Cmmitment Day is always the first Sunday in March. The purpse is t have a Special Day t renew and/r make new faith cmmitments. Remember t infrm missinaries, as well as WMMD, f any new r cntinued supprt. Nte: If it better serves the lcal church, anther Sunday can be selected fr Faith Cmmitment Sunday. Establish a Missins Sunday each mnth, suggestively the first Sunday. Prmte this as a designated time t receive missins giving. Be practive by cntacting missinaries scheduled fr itineratin r furlugh. If nne are available t attend a service, cnsider using Skype, Face Time, vides and ther digital cmmunicatin t give missinaries time t speak, even if they are nt present in the cngregatin. GO Rallies A GO Rally is a dynamic way t bring the cnference tgether fr a time f celebratin. Usually incrprated with the annual cnference camp meeting, a special evening is dedicated t emphasizing Glbal Outreach and prvide lcal churches a time t bring their ffering. Please d nt let yur GO ffering becme an end f year event. In past years, the fcus fr receiving funds was always in the early summer mnths. In ding s, emphasis was at the beginning f the year and cntinued thrugh the first tw quarters. If mre funds were needed t reach gals, the remaining half f the year prvided sufficient time t cntact key pastrs and churches and receive a fruitful respnse. This is the recmmended mdel. Please cllect GO funds as early as pssible frm the lcal churches. All funds must be received at the Glbal Ministry Center in Oklahma City r pstmarked by December 31 st t be cunted fr the current year. If funds are received after this time, they will be recrded fr the fllwing year. Any check dated after December 31, thugh received befre the 31 st, will be recrded fr the fllwing year. D nt cnfuse the GCM with GO Rallies. They are tw separate events. Prmtin Be familiar with prmtinal material and WMMD ministries. There are a wide variety f ministries fr the CMD and the cnference missins bard t prmte: Faith Cmmitment, Glbal Outreach, Peple t Peple, Cffeehuse Ministries, TEAMS, The Awakening, Natinal Missinaries, and numerus field prjects and ther ministries. Place yur rders fr WMMD prmtinal materials with the Cmmunicatins Crdinatr in advance. Shipping can take 7-10 business days. Any and all prmtinal materials will enhance yur lcal church s understanding f IPHC s Great Cmmissin mandate. 5

Each CMD needs t submit his/her cnference rder at the annual CMD Meeting. These will be prcessed and shipped later in the fall. Please help us in this area t make yur event the best and mst cst effective! Check WMMD s website fr mre infrmatin, such as articles, updates, newsletters, and vides. MISSIONARY ITINERATION Yur influence in the cnference, lcal churches, and with pastrs is invaluable! Yur rle in helping each missinary and encuraging them in their task f fundraising accelerates their success in raising their budget and departure t the field. Yur knwledge f the cnference and each church prvides infrmatin fr missinaries t knw the ptential in each church and hw t best address the cngregatin. Yur input prvides guidance s they will be relevant t each church and cmmunicate effectively. Send letters f intrductin fr new missinaries itinerating in yur cnference. A letter f endrsement cnfirms t the pastr r lcal missins directr yur cnfidence and apprval f the missinary. This is imprtant fr pastrs when sharing their pulpit with a guest speaker. When necessary, send letters f financial appeal fr missinaries t pastrs and churches. Strategic budget items may need special attentin. A little extra push can ften fulfill the financial need. (Example: airfare t the field r vehicle fr ministry). Cmmunicate with the Office f Itineratin in arranging itineraries fr missinaries.
