BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR JESUS On urday December 2nd The Faith Formation Program held a Birthday Party for Jesus/Breakfast with Santa. This event could not have been as successful as it was without the help of special people. I would like to thank Gerry Kaufhold and the Knights of Columbus for their monetary donation to help defray the cost of the supplies. I would also like to thank Rick DiCicco for taking pictures of the children at the party. A special thank you to Mel Kaufhold and Rosarians for their donations and yummy sweet treats. A word of praise also goes out to the Confirmation Candidates for all of the effort they put into making the day special for the little ones. A special shout out to Patty Mickus and Colette Tarallo, for helping Angela Borozan and Linda Klekner tackle the kitchen duties! Thank you JoAnn Vandenberg for inviting Santa and his Elf to our party! Lastly I would like to thank all of the families of St. Jude for your willingness to participate in our faith filled activities. Peace, Darlene Wade MARCH FOR LIFE This coming January 23, 2018, will be the 44th anniversary of the Roe versus Wade Supreme Court decision that, so far, has legalized the killing of 60,000,000 babies not yet born. Since that ominous date, science has proven that a unique human life begins at conception. The baby s DNA is the same then as it will be throughout that person s life. The only difference is the stage of development: whether a fetus, a newborn, a five year old, a teenager or an adult. Over those years, a lot of pro-life advocacy, prayers, and education has begun to change the tide but there is still much to do, much of which requires legislative action. On Friday, January 19, I invite you to join me and other pro-life supporters on our annual March for Life journey to Washington D.C. This peaceful demonstration shows our legislators and the general public that we care and are not giving up the fight for the lives of the unborn. If you have never been on the March, I can guarantee you an experience you won t soon forget. The Knights of Columbus sponsors the bus so there is no cost to you other than your sacrifice of that day. The day begins with an early mass and ends when the bus returns around 10:30 PM that night. For more information, call or e-mail Gerry Kaufhold on 973-229-6777 or gkaufhold@optonline.net. CHRISTMAS SEASON HYMNS FROM THE CATHEDRAL In commemoration of the renovation and reopening of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson, New Jersey, the musicians there created a Christmas Carol CD, with the proceeds from its sale going to the Cathedral for the explicit purpose of serving the homeless and the needy. The CD contains eight popular, traditional Christmas carols for a fee of $12.50 payable by check via the order form located in your church office and/or the Narthex (forms are located in the magazine racks) or by calling Tom Kieren at 973-214-6473 or email: pastoral140@earthlink.net. This commemorative CD seems ideal for Christmas gift giving for family and friends during the Christmas season, not to mention the advantage of its potential tax deductibility (check your financial advisor). The performance represents a memorialized set of hymns that have passed the test of time for hundreds of years in both the religious and secular worlds of music. ** The CD can be heard during the Christmas Season on Sirius XM Radio (120) from the Sounds of the Spires program where trumpeter Thomas Kieren was interviewed (along with excerpts of the music) by the Music Director of St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. The CD was also reviewed by the Beacon Diocesan newspaper a few weeks ago. Other musicians included the organist, a jazz guitarist, and vocalist. ** The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor.
