V Loaves II Fish - A Service Team Newsletter Mt. Zion UMC- Smarr, GA 2 nd quarter report 2016 The Mission/Service Team of Mt. Zion UMC-Smarr will consider & act on our call to mission and outreach with an intentional & biblically-based purpose. We will strive to be light and salt to the world, to act justly; love mercy and walk humbly in our service as we work to feed the hungry, quench the thirsty, welcome strangers, clothe the needy, care for the sick and visit the imprisoned while realizing our power and guidance comes from the Holy Spirit for the glory of God. (Scripture references: Isaiah 42:6-9, Micah 6:6-8, Matthew 5:13-16, Matthew 25:34-40, Acts 1:8) April 30th Relay for Life 2016 Mt. Zion rocked again with effort, presentation, and money raised. Thank you to Kathy Rowland, for chairing again, and to the Mt. Zion UMC Relay team members and contributors!

The month of May means Mother s Day and Service Team members decided it was a perfect opportunity to collect layette kits for UMCOR. Eight kits collected by Mt. Zion UMC were delivered to the Annual Conference by Pastor Liza & Michael Marler. Also, between Mother s Day & Father s Day, Mt. Zion participated in the baby bottle campaign collecting money for The Pregnancy Center. June Several Mt. Zion members joined Franklin & Aimee Freeman and the home-owner-tobe (and her son) in a Habitat for Humanity Landscaping project on Saturday, 6/18. Big thank you to Vicky Sykes, Tommy & Deborah Woodward, Michael & Lorraine Bunn, Tyler Allen, and Kristen Allen.

Katie Rowland to Culebra, Puerto Rico for Mission Trip Katie returned to Culebra, PR again this year with a group from Forsyth UMC. Thank you Katie for you service in missions and hard work in Culebra! CONTINUOUS SERVICE PROJECTS Remember to bring your items for the food bank. Beginning Sunday, July 10 th, we ll collect book bags full of school supplies for the school closest to us, T.G. Scott Elementary. There are separate supply lists for each grade: K-5 SERVICE TEAM FUND RAISER The ANNUAL YARD SALE IS COMING!!! SATURDAY, 9/10/16 8:00 A.M. 2:00 P.M. *Yard sale- Date Saturday, 9/10/16 PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING CLOTHES THIS YEAR!! DONATE YOUR CLOTHING ITEMS TO CIRCLE OF CARE IN FORSYTH. All other items and furnishings are welcome! We will have a set schedule of workers getting items ready for the big sale from Sunday, 8/28 to 9/10/16. If you would like to sign up, contact Lorraine Bunn or any service team member! * Begin bringing donated items to the pavilion beginning 8/28/16; We will provide a schedule of times the pavilion will be open during that week to drop off items or to schedule a specific time, contact Lorraine Bunn 478-550-7379. We are blessed to have active men, women and youth groups that regularly get involved in projects in the community and beyond. Our Sunday School classes regularly contribute to arising needs in the congregation and community. Our service, spirituality, shepherding and synergy committees are ready to welcome you on their teams! We need and welcome you!
