These sessions provide an opportunity for you to come as you are to a friendly, welcoming, non-pressuring atmosphere to learn more about the Catholic Faith, even if you don t think you ll want to actually become a Catholic. If you desire to take steps towards becoming Catholic, you will have the option to do so, on your own initiative. This process is for the unbaptized, those coming from other faith traditions and baptized Catholics who wish to complete their Sacraments of Initiation. Men from across the diocese will gather at St. Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg for the 6 th Annual Diocesan Catholic Men s Conference. This year s theme, Truly Present, will explore Jesus presence to us and our call to be present in all our relationships in the world as husband, father, brother, and friend. This year will feature a dual-track conference with keynote speakers in English and Spanish, breakout opportunities, reconciliation, adoration, and Mass. The cost for the conference is $55. You can find a link to register for the Diocesan Men s Conference on our parish website, olmc.org. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church will be taking two of our new buses to the conference. This will be a great opportunity to bond with other men of our parish on the trip to Williamsburg. There is no cost for riding the bus. The Nursery is offered during the 10:00 a.m. Mass for children ages 1-3 years old. The nurturing staff and volunteers provide a safe, Christian environment for the children in their care. Parents who utilize the nursery are asked to volunteer about one Sunday per month to keep our Co-Op Nursery staffed each Sunday. Kingdom Kids Worship (1 st -5 th Grades) Kingdom Kids Worship provides a liturgical adaptation of the Sunday readings for children in 1 st -5 th grade. The Children Celebrate! Liturgy of the Word with Children program from Pflaum Publishing Group guides the parish catechists proclamation of the Gospel. Carmel Connect (Young Adult Ministry) Mardi Gras Party Carmel Connect Young Adults and CNU CCM will be celebrating Mardi Gras together on Tuesday, February 13. Sacraments First Sacraments The First Eucharist Parent Retreat will be on Sunday, February 24 th, at 11:15 in St. Michael Hall. This retreat is for the parents of children who have been attending the First Sacraments Workshops and Faith Formation programs, and have received their First Reconciliation. More information will come out soon. Baptisms at OLMC are celebrated several times throughout the year. Whether you are parents-to-be, parents of an infant, or parents of a young child, we invite you to consider having your child baptized into the Catholic faith at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. OLMC currently has three SPRED groups (for adults 18yrs and older) that meet on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Step out in faith. 40 Days for LIFE Information Night February 12th @ 7pm in Gathering Room SNAP Challenge Coming this Lent! The concept for the SNAP Challenge is to raise awareness of the food choices that low income Americans have to make with the food stamp benefits they receive. The idea is to take the average food stamp benefit (about $30 per person per week) and use only that much money to buy all your food for the whole week. For each week of Lent you will have: a shopping list of items that can be purchased with a $34 (per person) weekly budget, a meal plan for the week (detailing food for every meal), several recipes that can be made with the week s ingredients, a list of left-over meals from previous weeks, and a list of left-over ingredients from previous weeks. Then donate the money you saved to those most poor and vulnerable. More information coming... Special Thanks OLMC School & Pope s Prayer Club This past week OLMC School celebrated Catholic School Week by collecting canned food to help fill the food pantry at our parish and serve those in need. As an additional bonus the Pope s Prayer Club brought the items to the food pantry and put all the food away on the shelves. Many hands make quick work and your generosity of food and time stocking the items is so very appreciated!! Parish Life Welcome Desk Hosts We are seeking additional Welcome Desk Hosts at all weekend Masses! This ministry is open to all women or men, single or married, youth to seniors. If you like to meet and greet and are looking for a way to help others learn more about our parish community then this is the ministry for you! Our Welcome Desk Hosts extend a welcome and offer help to those looking for a community of faith, looking for information, and ultimately seeking a place at the table of the Body of Christ. You don t have to know all the answers about our parish, as we will give you plenty of resources to answer whatever questions you might be asked.
