Read the passages carefully: Secton-A (Readng) Bhagat Sngh Bhagat Sngh, the great revolutonary and martyr, was only 23 when n 1931 he was hanged n the Lahore jal for havng thrown a bomb n the legslatve assembly hall n Delh on Aprl 8, 1929. Ths was the culmnaton of a lfe devoted to the great task of frst makng Inda free from the Brtsh rule and then buldng Inda nto a strong naton. Bhagat Sngh dreamt of an Inda where there would be respect for every relgon and where all Indans would get the basc necesstes of lfe. Bhagat Sngh was born n 1907 n a well-to-do Skh famly of Punjab full of love for the country. As a chld, hs deal was hs uncle Ajt Sngh, who was a great freedom fghter. Two ncdents played a major role n shapng Bhagat Sngh s lfe. In Jallan Walla Bagh n Amrtsar, a peaceful gatherng of unarmed people was subjected to ndscrmnate frng at the orders of General Dyer. Bhagat Sngh ran away from school to vst the ste. He was greatly moved by the bullet marks n the walls of the Jallan Walla Bagh. He brought back wth hm some blood-soaked mud n a lttle bottle to remnd hm of Brtsh cruelty. The second ncdent was Lala Rajpat Ra s death n 1928. Lala Rajpat Ra was also Bhagat Sngh s deal. He was leadng a protest march when he was beaten up wth laths, and he ded soon after. Bhagat Sngh felt hghly agtated and he wanted to rase a strong protest. Bhagt Sngh thought of throwng a bomb n the Assembly Hall as a means of protest. The dea of so many Englshmen gettng klled delghted hs frend Chandra Shekhar Azad. But Bhagat Sngh sad that he ddn t want to kll anybody, he only wanted to make the Brtsh Rulers hear. Bhagat Sngh and hs frends ddn t try to run away after throwng the bomb. They were arrested and put to tral. In a statement that Bhagat Sngh made durng hs tral, he sad, The bomb was necessary to awaken England from her dreams. In the 1970 s, the government of Kerala made plans to construct a Dam on the rver Kunthpuzha to generate electrcty. Enlghtened people felt that the dangers nvolved n buldng the dams were more serous than the benefts of gettng extra energy. If the dam was bult, thousands of trees would be submerged n the water reservor of the dam and many anmals would lose ther natural habtat. Depleton of forest cover would negatvely affect ranfall. And, there be no trees, more and more fertle sol would get washed away, and agrculture would suffer. So there was a strong opposton to the constructon of the dam. Even school and college student partcpated n the protest. Fnally n 1980, the central government asked the government of Kerala to stop the constructon of the dam.
