Word of Life study will pick back up on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. The study will be from the book Praying with Paul by D. A. Carson & Brian Tabb. It s doubtful that there is any Christian who has not sometimes found it difficult to pray. In itself this is neither surprising nor depressing: it is not surprising, because we are still pilgrims with many lessons to learn; it is not depressing, because struggling with such matters is part of the way we learn. The apostle Paul found the kind of spiritual closeness in his own fellowship with the Father that is available to all of us. Praying with Paul leads group members into the Epistles to see what Paul taught in his "school of prayer." The book covers the priorities of prayer, a God-centered framework for prayer, and practices for a more meaningful and dynamic prayer life. Christians today can still achieve the confidence Paul enjoyed by following his life-shaping principles and searching for a deeper devotional experience. FBCC Word of Life Study I would like to purchase the Bible Study book Praying with Paul Total copies requested: @ $15/each = Total due: $ Cash The cost per book is $15. To secure your copy, complete the tear off form below and see Sis. Peggy Palmer in the Narthex with your form & payment after church TODAY. NOTE: W e will only order books for those who have paid in full. Check # Please PRINT: Name: E-mail: Phone: *Complete this form and submit with your full payment. Instructions for Commitment Card The building fund line on our regular envelope will now be used for building maintenance and improvement. Our building campaign is two (2) phases. The first 2-1/2 years are dedicated to paying off the mortgage. We rounded it off to three-year gift amount for convenience. If we get at least 200 people to commit to $25 weekly above their normal tithes and offerings, we will pay the mortgage off by June/July 2018. The last 2-1/2 years (for a total of 5 years) will be funds dedicated for when a building/land becomes available for us to build/move to a larger location where we will have more classrooms, office space, parking, a larger sanctuary, and so we can do more ministry. If you are committed to the entire 5 years, please fill out under I/We plan to give accordingly: on the commitment card. Example: Total Three-year Gift Amount $25 weekly If you are committed or all 5 years I/We plan to give accordingly: $25 weekly for 260 weeks You can drop your completed commitment card in the offering basket OR turn it in directly to the Trustees OR Church office.

The Ministry of the Unnoticed The official start of our Building campaign was Vision Sunday, January 17, 2016. It s not too late to be a part of this endeavor. Pastor Coleman is asking each member to prayerfully consider the level of weekly contributions above your normal tithes and offerings. As you pray, meditate on the campaign theme and scripture, Let Us Rise and Build, Neh. 2:18 (NASB), And they said, let us rise up and build, so they strengthened their hands for this good work. If you need an envelope and commitment card, ask any usher. Blessed are the poor in spirit Matthew 5:3 The New Testament notices things that do not seem worthy of notice by our standards. Blessed are the poor in spirit. This literally means, Blessed are the paupers. Paupers are remarkably commonplace! The preaching of today tends to point out a person s strength of will or the beauty of his character things that are easily noticed. The statement we so often hear, Make a decision for Jesus Christ, places the emphasis on something our Lord never trusted. He never asks us to decide for Him, but to yield to Him something very different. At the foundation of Jesus Christ s kingdom is the genuine loveliness of those who are commonplace. I am truly blessed in my poverty. If I have no strength of will and a nature without worth or excellence, then Jesus says to me, Blessed are you, because it is through your poverty that you can enter My kingdom. I cannot enter His kingdom by virtue of my goodness I can only enter it as an absolute pauper. The true character of the loveliness that speaks for God is always unnoticed by the one possessing that quality. Conscious influence is prideful and unchristian. If I wonder if I am being of any use to God, I instantly lose the beauty and the freshness of the touch of the Lord. He who believes in Me out of his heart will flow rivers of living water (John 7:38). And if I examine the outflow, I lose the touch of the Lord. Who are the people who have influenced us most? Certainly not the ones who thought they did, but those who did not have even the slightest idea that they were influencing us. In the Christian life, godly influence is never conscious of itself. If we are conscious of our influence, it ceases to have the genuine loveliness which is characteristic of the touch of Jesus. We always know when Jesus is at work because He produces in the commonplace something that is inspiring. Wisdom From Oswald Chambers Always keep in contact with those books and those people that enlarge your horizon and make it possible for you to stretch yourself mentally.
