A Time of Remembrance Opening Sentences On this Remembrance Sunday, we recall the sacrifice of those who responded to the call to defend nations and values against forces of violence, repression, and evil. The price was heavy. Many gave their lives. Others suffered wounds that permanently affected their living. Still others carried memories of scenes they could not forget, and grief for the loss of friends who had been companions in battle. We gather to remember and give thanks, and to strengthen our resolve to work for peace among all nations and peoples. Music Introductory Words I Want Jesus to Walk with Me Don Clements & Judy Hunter Reading In Flanders Fields Kylie Wenger Laying of Wreath Piper s Lament Moment of Silence Sarah & Elijah Calara Gail Brown Opening Prayer God of peace, the very remembrance of war saddens us, and the reminder of violent death and destruction still shocks us. Yet, in the midst of our sadness is quiet gratitude for those who have given their lives in war, and those who are giving their lives for peace. May our gratitude for both fill our worship this day. Announcements - November 12, 2017 At a congregational meeting on Sunday, October 29, members voted to accept the recommendation of the Joint Search Committee and will welcome Rev. Dr. Dale Skinner as St. Paul s new minister. Many thanks to both the Joint Needs Assessment and Joint Search Committees for all of their hard work over the past several months. We look forward to welcoming Rev. Dale Skinner in the new year. Do you have a knack and a passion for decorating? If so, the Worship Committee is looking for a coordinator to guide willing volunteers of St. Paul's (also required) in decorating the sanctuary in preparation for Advent and Christmas during daytime hours either Thursday, 30 November or Friday, December 1. We have all the decorations, but need somebody to organize the set up. Information will be available as a guide and a clipboard for volunteer signup will be in the atrium to get things rolling. For more information please contact Myra Hudspeth at mhudspeth@cogeco.ca, or Helene Ellison at h_auclair47@hotmail.com. Please consider offering leadership and assistance getting this done. Many hands make light the work, and the resulting ambiance enhances our worship during the s1eason. Calling all St Paul s Youth Grades 6-12! Adam is leading Youth Group! Members of the Ahmadiyya have offered to host a get-acquainted evening for the people of St. Paul's and friends on Tuesday November 14, 7:00-9:00pm. Fiddling Around Canada for 150 Years by the Puslinch Fiddle Orchestra on Saturday November 25, 2:00pm at St Paul s. Featuring music by Don Messer, Ned Landry, Al Cherney, Stompin Tom and the Hockey Song, and more. There ll be door prizes and a reception to follow. Adults $20, Students $10, 6 and under are free. Tickets available from the church office, Nancy Whitnell and Jim Hawkins and may be paid with cash, cheque plus through the office using Visa/MC (phone or in person) or Debit (in person). All proceeds to the work of St Paul s. For the Sunday School to continue to grow and meet the needs of the youngest members of our congregation, the Sunday School is looking for one more teacher that can help teach our kids approximately two Sundays a month. We currently have three dedicated teachers but a fourth would allow for the middle school group to run more consistently and the kids to have more age appropriate activities to encourage their spiritual growth at the church. It also would allow the current teachers some time to attend church themselves. If you are interested or have questions please contact Kim Wenger at kim.wenger12@gmail.com. The Rose Window Memorial plaque (in the sanctuary) was created approximately 20 years ago to allow folk to recognize and remember individuals who were important in their lives. Order forms are available in the atrium and in the Memorials section of the St Paul s website. Prices from 20 years ago are being held until December 31 of this year and will increase on January 1, 2018. The proceeds will be used by the St Paul s trustees to fund several identified capital projects, including noise abatement in the atrium by the installation of aesthetically pleasing sound absorbing baffles and maintenance and repair of the existing stained glass windows, including the Rose Window. If interested, please contact Carol Kerr, Chair of Trustees, (ckerrs17@gmail.com), any member of the Board of Trustees or the church office. Deadline for weekly bulletin announcements Wednesdays at 4:00pm in the office - 7 - - 8 -
