Register at JustServe.org. 5. Use JustServe.org to search for available service opportunities in your area. 6. (Optional) Download the JustServe app from the App Store or Google Play.

Facilitator Guide Suggested Presentation Outline We recommend using the following approach to share the information. You may modify the presentation as needed to accommodate the needs and interests of people in your area. 1. Introduction Welcome participants to the JustServe presentation. 2. Attention Activity Share the following quotes: Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others. Booker T. Washington, African American Civil Rights Leader If you can t feed a hundred people, then feed just one. Mother Teresa (Optional) Invite participants to share how giving service in faith, nonprofit, community, or governmental organizations has benefited them. 3. Finding Service Opportunities in the Community How do you learn about ways to care for those in need and improve the quality of life in our community? How do you match your availability to those needs? Tell participants that the purpose of today s presentation is to introduce them to JustServe.org, a resource that makes it easy for people to find volunteer opportunities in the community. JustServe.org is a free community resource sponsored as a service by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Participating organizations visit the website to post service needs to a wide range of volunteers. Volunteers visit the website to locate service opportunities that best fit their interests, skills, and availability. 4. JustServe Introduction Video Watch the JustServe introduction video.

Facilitator Guide 5. Group Discussion Discuss how using JustServe.org might benefit the community. Highlight these key benefits as part of the discussion: Easier to Find Community Needs. Faith, nonprofit, community, and government organizations post their needs on JustServe.org, including how long the service will take, when and where it will happen, what skills are needed, and what ages it may be appropriate for. This allows volunteers to match their availability to community needs. More Meaningful Service. JustServe.org helps volunteers to thoughtfully select service opportunities that align with their interests, skills, and availability. JustServe.org helps build unity in the community through service. Easy to Post Service Projects. It s easy for organizations to recommend a project they need help with on JustServe.org. All they have to do is click the Submit a Project button at the bottom of the home page and follow the instructions. Build Lasting Relationships. Getting involved not only improves our communities, but serving side-by-side helps to build trust, friendships, and lasting relationships. Invite Others. Serving together brings feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction. Inviting others to participate with you in serving others helps strengthen the community. [We are] to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all. Joseph Smith, first President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 6. How to Submit Service Projects Emphasize that one of the purposes of JustServe is to make it easy for faith, nonprofit, community, and governmental organizations to submit service opportunities so that individuals, families, and organizations can find and participate in these opportunities. To recommend a project, visit JustServe.org and select Submit a Project near the bottom of the screen. JustServe projects should not directly involve volunteers in fund-raising, have a political focus, or be for-profit oriented. Submitted projects are reviewed, approved, and then made visible to volunteers. Be aware that submitting a service project on JustServe.org does not guarantee that volunteers will sign up for your project.

7. Share Handout Provide a handout to each participant. Discuss how to find and volunteer for service opportunities as outlined in the handout. Also let participants know that JustServe has an app that can be downloaded at the App Store or Google Play. Facilitator Guide 8. (Optional) Live Demo If you have Internet access or if you have downloaded the JustServe app, consider providing a live demo of the steps to find and volunteer for service opportunities in your area. If it is more appropriate for your participants, consider providing a demonstration of how organizations post a project. 9. Concluding Remarks Ask participants to share how they feel JustServe might benefit themselves and their communities. Conclude by inviting participants to sign up at JustServe.org and to volunteer for a nearby service opportunity.
