November 2012 Edition Albany Bays A New Perspective Te Ope Whakaora The Salvation Army New Zealand, Fiji & Tonga Territory Caring for people, Transforming lives, Reforming Society.
When Felix Baumgartner stepped outside of the capsule connected to his gigantic balloon on Oct 14 th 2012, he had a view that most people will never experience. He was able to see over the edge of the Earth and look down at our planet from 39 kilometres above the surface. It was then that he had a view no one else has ever had land hurtling towards him faster than the speed of sound. This thrill seeker had a new perspective on life: figuratively and literally. This amazing feat got me thinking about the Good News of Jesus Christ. When the Gospel story takes hold in our lives, it reveals to us a new perspective on things. It opens us up to an entirely new view towards life. In fact, as Christians we should see things from an even higher view than Baumgartner. We can see things from a heavenly perspective; from a Christ-centred point of view. The Gospel has the power to change lives and to reveal a new way of looking at things. It empowers us to love rather than hate; to serve rather than be served. It offers hope and expectation for all and it reveals to us how we can connect with God. So, may you come to experience this new perspective and be taken on the ultimate ride of a lifetime. Marcus & Jenny Captains Marcus & Jenny Collings Corps Officers
