Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church The Way of the Kingdom is the Way of the Cross. We are thankful that you have chosen to spend February 4, 2018, with us, celebrating the fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time.
Rest In Peace Our sincerest sympathies go to the family and friends of Herbert Hoerl, Anna M. Roma, and Josephine Leone. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. The Sanctuary Candle for this week was donated in loving memory of Robert C. Simpson, Jr. Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed He told them, Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come. ~ Mark 1:35, 38 In today s Gospel reading we see a perfect example of stewardship. Jesus gives his time to do all that God wishes by healing the sick and preaching. But before he begins, Jesus makes time to be alone with God in prayer. It is through prayer, spending time with God, that we find the strength to do what he wishes for us to do. Be sure to find time every day to be with God. The Narrow Gate Continuing Education for Adults This week we will be exploring Mary Magdalene. Join us on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:30 AM in room #3 of the parish center. Call Barbara at 819-5134 for more information. Enter by the narrow gate, since the road that leads to destruction is wide and spacious, and many take it; but it is a narrow gate and a hard road that leads to life, and only a few find it. ~ Matthew 7:13-14 The Way of the Kingdom is the Way of the Cross This, in short, is the difference between us and others who know not God, that in misfortune they complain and murmur, while the adversity does not call us away from the truth of virtue and faith, but strengthens us by its suffering. ~ St. Cyprian A Note From Your Bishop Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, January 2018 From Fall 2013 to Fall 2014, your parish and many parishes throughout our diocese participated in the Forward in Faith Campaign. As a diocese, we raised over $32 million in commitments from more than 16,600 donors, with more than $22 million paid. The major construction projects are completed, and Parish Share is our major focus. I am excited to announce that St. Michael the Archangel Parish is receiving their first installment of $75,856.17, which represents 20% of all payments received for the campaign to date. To date, more than $5 million from the Forward in Faith Campaign has been shared with our parishes for their designated projects. What a great way to kick off the new year! Please remember, we are still working to raise funds to complete the outlined programs and projects. THANK YOU to those who have already completed your gift. We wouldn t have been able to come so far without you! THANK YOU to those still making payments. Your payments will help your parish receive future Parish Share funds! For those who haven t joined us yet, you can still make a gift to the Forward in Faith Campaign online at www.dosp.org. I offer thanks to St. Michael the Archangel Parish for helping our local Church move Forward in Faith. Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Rev. Gregory L.
