ST. TERESA of AVILA STUDENT CENTER PAGE 2 1511 Laporte Ave. Valparaiso, IN 46383 Fr. Chris Corner Dear friends in the Lord, At the beginning of Lent, we started a preaching series entitled Teach us to pray. First, we defined prayer as responding to the God who is already there and receiving what He wants to bestow upon us. Then we looked at prayer as a covenant relationship and we went over the five forms of prayer (Adoration, Petition, Intercession, Thanksgiving, and Praise) as well as the three expressions of prayer (vocal prayer, meditation, and contemplation). We learned Matthew Kelly s Prayer Process: Gratitude, Awareness, Significant moments, Peace, Freedom, Others, and an Our Father, in order to give some structure to our prayer. Last week, we explored our spiritual senses and how we can use them in imaginative prayer. This week we are looking at a huge question: How do we know that it is God who is speaking to us? This is all about discernment in prayer in which we learn some skills to be able to determine what is coming from God and what s not. In order to guide you throughout this week, below is a list of Scripture passages to pray with each day. There are some reflection questions to help you discover what the Lord is saying to you and then you can write it down in your journal. Then, write down the one thing that you sensed the Lord was trying to tell you. Finally, write down what you ended your prayer wanting. Faithfully Yours in the Lord, Fr. Chris

Campus Ministry To the Wonderful St. T s Community, I am so incredibly grateful for the love and support that you have given me over the past 3 years. As a community, you warmly welcomed me a stranger into your family. I am thankful for the home that St. Teresa s has been for me over these years. Many of you welcomed me into your families, and I have built strong bonds with you and your children. As I look towards my future, God is calling me to the lofty goal of being a dedicated husband and father above all else. Unfortunately, the presence I wish to have for my future family is not something that is easily obtained in my position. While I absolutely love our college students and serving God in this role, the time commitments of this position will eventually keep me from being present for my future family. Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that I will be stepping down as your Campus Minister at the end of this semester. Over the next couple of months, I will be working with Fr. Chris to search for and find someone who will continue to serve this community with dedication and love. I know that you will welcome him or her with open arms. Most of all, please keep the students in your prayers and continue to let your joy be a beacon for those who set foot on VU s campus. You have such an amazing opportunity to affect the faith of the next generation by participating in this community. Thank you for all you do and for the privilege of serving you. In Christ, Scott Stewardship Commission St. Teresa s Tithing As individuals we are called to be good and generous stewards with God s manifold gifts. Tithing is the means whereby we have the opportunity to give thanks to God; with that in mind, the community of St. Teresa of Avila tithes weekly. The donation this week will go to Pack Away Hunger. (Life. Changing. Nutrition.) Their mission is to greatly improve the lives of children and others who suffer from hunger and malnutrition in the United States and developing nations.
