The work from the first dissertation (Arabic Language and Literature) focused on Attitudes of Muslim Jurisprudents towards the Treatment of the sick by Prayers, Incantations, Talismans and Amulets in the middle ages and the modern period. The second in Education (Language Teaching) explored attitudes towards the Arabic, Hebrew and English Languages among Arab Students at the. Ph.D. Dissertation My PhD title was: Legal Discussions on the Translation of the Quran from the Middle Ages until Today in the Arab World and the Non-Arabic-Speaking Muslim World. The study discusses the Islamic legal debate concerning the translation of the Qur'an. It compares the views taken in the Middle Ages with those of modern jurists, and the treatment of the subject in the Muslim Arab world with that of the non-arab Muslim world, highlighting both similarities and differences, synchronically as well as diachronically, in the following domains: First, the juridical debate concerning translation at three levels, literal, semantic and interpretive, complete and partial, prose and poetic; second, the juridical debate concerning the transliteration of the Qur'an using characters other than the usual Uthmānic script, in addition to such modern innovations as phonetic transcription, transcription into the Braille Alphabet, translation into sign language and colloquial dialects, etc.; third, the juridical debate concerning the formal and substantive conditions on the text of a Qur'an translation and on the translator, as well as the rules for handling a physical copy of a translated, transcribed or transliterated Qur'an. Research at of Nottingham I am preparing a translation with commentary, notes, footnote, annotations and an appendix (of the terminology of reason ʿaql ) of Ibn Taymiyya's fatwa in the book: The averting of the contradiction (contention) between the reason and revelation (scripture, tradition) (Dar' ta'arud al-'aql wa al-naql). It will offer a Research Project Proposal for this work. The importance of this fatwa lies in the fact that it contains Ibn Taymiyya's thoughts on theology and on religion in general. Ibn Tayymmyyh stated that the revelation contains the principles of religion (uṣūl al-dīn), its propositions (masāʾil) and its proofs: such as the attributes (ṣifāt), predetermination (qadar), the return (maʿād) and others established through the traditionbased proofs (al-dalāʾil al-samʿiyya) and the rational based proofs (al-dalāʾil al-ʿaqliyya).
