The mouth of the Lord has spoken. The old things have passed away. Kelly Mehaffie *HYMN 387 Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us Bradbury *CONFESSION OF SIN (Unison) Dr. Marie Buffaloe God of renewal and new creations, we confess that your promise to do a new thing can scare us. We get comfortable with the way we think, the way we do things, and the way we live. We have trouble trusting your way because it requires change. You make us look at the world with new eyes, hearts, and minds. Forgive us for our reluctance and mistrust. Help us follow where you lead. (Continue to pray silently) *ASSURANCE OF GRACE Remember your baptism and believe the good news of the Gospel. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. *RESPONSE OF PRAISE 579 Glory Be to the Father Gloria Patri Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen. 2

CONVERSATION WITH CHILDREN Dr. Stephen McKinney-Whitaker (All 4 year olds through first graders are invited to KIWI - Kids in Worship Instruction - by meeting the KIWI Leader in the East Transept of the Sanctuary.) PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION SCRIPTURE LESSON John 2:1-11 NT p. 93 The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God. SERMON "We Don't Need Roads" Dr. McKinney-Whitaker SACRAMENT OF COMMUNION GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give God thanks and praise....we sing this hymn to the glory of your name (HYMN 580 Holy, Holy, Holy; Sanctus) Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of Hosts, Heaven and earth are full of thy glory: Glory be to thee, O Lord Most High. Amen....as we proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has come among us. Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ abides with us. Christ will come again. WORDS OF INSTITUTION COMMUNION OF THE PEOPLE All our bread and juice is gluten, soy, dairy, and nut free. Please eat the bread and drink the cup as you are served: Share these words as you serve one another: At the bread: The bread of heaven. At the cup: The cup of salvation. COMMUNION MUSIC On Eagle's Wings arr. Douglas Wagner Chrysalis Youth Choir And He will raise you up on eagle's wings, Bear you on the breath of dawn, Make you to shine like the sun, And hold you in the palm of His Hand. 3

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord, Who abide in His shadow for life, Say to the Lord, "My Refuge, My Rock in Whom I trust." The snare of the fowler will never capture you, And famine will bring you no fear; Under His wings your refuge, His faithfulness your shield. You need not fear the terror of the night, Nor the arrow that flies by day, Though thousands fall about you, Near you it shall not come. For to His angels He's given a command, To guard you in all of your ways, Upon their hands they will bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD'S PRAYER (Unison) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. OFFERING Offertory Praise the Lord! Ye Heavens, Adore Him arr. Benjamin Harlan Sanctuary Choir Praise the Lord! Ye heavens, adore Him; Praise Him, angels, in the height; Sun and moon, rejoice before Him, Praise Him, all ye stars of light. Praise the Lord! for he hath spoken; Worlds His mighty voice obeyed: Laws, which never shall be broken, For their guidance hath He made. Worship, honor, glory, blessing, Lord, we offer unto Thee, Young and old, Thy praise expressing, In glad homage bend the knee. 4

PRAYER OF DEDICATION All the saints in heav n adore Thee, We would bow before Thy throne. As Thine angels serve before Thee, So on earth Thy will be done. Amen. *HYMN In Cana At A Wedding Feast Ellacombe In Cana at a wedding feast, Christ worked his first great sign. There Jesus' mother told her son, "They don't have any wine!" He called for six stone water jars; they filled them to the brim; Through water changed to wine that day, his friends believed in him. Far from the town, the crowds pressed in on Jesus' prayer retreat. He healed their sick, then told his own, "You give them food to eat!" Five loaves of bread and two small fish were all they found to share, Yet thousands ate the meal he blessed, with baskets left to spare. Out on the sea, the winds were strong; the stormy waves were high; There Jesus' friends were filled with fear when he came walking by. "Take heart, for it is I!" he said, and helping Peter stand, He calmed the storm and stirred their hearts; God's world was in his hand. The blind, the poor, the outcast too, found Christ to be their friend. "Have mercy!" Bartimaeus said. "I want to see again." With great compassion and with grace, Christ gave him back his sight. Through deeds of power, deeds of love, he filled our world with light. O Lord, we see your wondrous signs and know through faith-filled eyes: You are new wine that brings us joy, true bread that satisfies. You give clear vision to your church, you make the wounded whole. You give us hope, when seas are rough; for you are in control! *BENEDICTION *DISMISSAL Go Now In Peace Don Besig Chrysalis and Sanctuary Choirs *POSTLUDE Offertoire sur les Grand Jeux: Gigue Francois Couperin 5
