ANDRE : MODIFICATIONS ORDER ORDRE DU CONSEIL modifiant les limites des Districts Ecclésiastiques de All Saints et de St. André, en date du 5 JUILLET 1929. (Entériné le 30 novembre 1929). At the Court at Buckingham Palace, 15th August, 1929. PRESENT: The King s Most Excellent Majesty in Council. It is this day ordered by His Majesty, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, that a printed copy of the following named Order in Council be transmitted to the Royal Court of Jersey, viz.: - Order in Council of the 5th day of July, 1929, altering the boundaries of the New Parish of All Saints, Jersey, and of the New Parish of St. Andrew, Jersey: AND it is hereby further ordered that the said Order be registered in the Island of Jersey; and the Lieutenant-Governor or Commander-in-Chief for the time being, and also the Bailiff and Jurats of the Royal Court of the Island of Jersey, are to give the necessary directions herein as to them may respectively appertain. WHEREAS the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England have, in pursuance of the Act of the 7th and 8th years of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria Chapter 94, of the Act of the 13th and 14th years of Her said late Majesty, Chapter 94, and of the Act of the 32nd and 33rd years of Her said late Majesty, Chapter 94, duly prepared, and laid before His Majesty in Council, a Scheme or Representation, bearing date the 30th day of May, 1929, in the words and figures following, that is to say: - We, the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England, acting under the provisions of the Act of the 7th and 8th Years of Her late Majesty, Chapter 94, and the Act of the 13th and 14th years of Her said late Majesty, Chapter 94, and the Act of the 32nd and 33rd years of Her said late Majesty, Chapter 94, have prepared, and now humbly lay before Your Majesty in Council, the following Scheme or Representation for altering the boundaries of the New Parish of All Saints, Jersey, and of the New Parish of Saint Andrew, Jersey, both in the Island of Jersey and in the Diocese of Winchester : Whereas by the authority of an Order of Her said late Majesty in Council bearing date the 19th day of June, 1868, 1 and published in the London Gazette on the 23rd day of the same month, a District Chapelry was assigned to the consecrated Church of All Saints, situate in the Parish of Saint Helier, in the said Island and in the said Diocese and the said District Chapelry was named The District Chapelry of All Saints, Jersey : And whereas by the authority of another Order of Her said late Majesty in Council bearing date the 22nd day of February, 1870, 2 and published in the London Gazette on the 25th day of the same month, a District Chapelry was assigned to the consecrated Church of Saint Andrew, situate in the said Parish of Saint Helier, and the said District Chapelry was named The District Chapelry of Saint Andrew, Jersey : And whereas the said District Chapelry of All Saints, Jersey, and the said District Chapelry of Saint Andrew, Jersey, have under the provisions of the Act of the 19th and 20th years of Her said late Majesty, Chapter 104, become New Parishes of the character contemplated by that Act, by the Act of the 6th and 7th years of Her said late Majesty, Chapter 37, and by the above mentioned Act of the 32nd and 33rd years of Her said late Majesty, Chapter 94 : And whereas it has been represented to us and it appears to us to be expedient that the boundaries of the said New Parish of All Saints, Jersey, and of the said New Parish of Saint Andrew, Jersey, should be altered in the manner which is hereinafter mentioned : Now, therefore, with the consent of the Right Reverend Frank Theodore, Bishop of Winchester (in testimony whereof he has signed and sealed this Scheme or Representation, we, the said Ecclesiastical Commissioners, humbly represent, recommend and propose that from and after the day of the date of publication in the London Gazette of any Order of Your Majesty in Council ratifying this Scheme or Representation and without any assurance in the law other than such duly gazetted Order the boundaries of the said New Parish of All Saints, Jersey, and of the said New Parish of Saint Andrew, Jersey, shall be altered so that (first) all that portion of the said New Parish of Saint Andrew, Jersey, which is described in the First 1 2 Tomes I-III, page 322 and Tomes IV-VI, page 283. 5 Schedule hereunder written and is delineated and set forth upon the map or plan hereunto annexed and is thereon coloured pink shall be dissevered from such New Parish and shall be restored to and shall in future form part of the said Parish of Saint Helier, and (secondly) all that other portion of the said New Parish of Saint Andrew, Jersey, which is described in the Second Schedule hereunder written and is delineated and set forth upon the said map or plan hereunto annexed and is thereon coloured green shall be dissevered from such New Parish and shall be annexed to and shall in future form part of the said New Parish of All Saints, Jersey. And we further represent, recommend and propose that nothing herein contained shall prevent us from representing, recommending and proposing any other measures relating to the matters aforesaid, or any of them, in accordance with the provisions of the hereinbefore mentioned Acts, or of any of them, or of any other Act of Parliament. 6 THE SCHEDULES to which the foregoing Scheme has reference THE FIRST SCHEDULE The territory to be dissevered from the New Parish of Saint Andrew, Jersey, in the Island of Jersey and in the Diocese of Winchester, and to be restored to the Parish of Saint Helier, in the said Island and in the said Diocese, being: - All that portion of the said New Parish of Saint Andrew, Jersey, which is bounded upon the west and upon the south by the sea, upon the east and upon part of the north east by the said Parish of Saint Helier, and upon the remaining sides, that is to say, upon the remaining part of the north east and upon the north west, by an imaginary line commencing upon the boundary which divides the said Parish of Saint Helier, from the said New Parish of Saint Andrew, Jersey, at the junction of York Street and Sand Street, and extending thence north westward along the middle of Sand Street for a distance of 7½ chains or thereabouts to its junction with the road called Seaton Place, and extending thence north westward along the middle of Seaton Place for a distance of 7½ chains or thereabouts to its junction with Gloucester Street, and extending thence south westward along the middle of Gloucester Street for a distance of 4 chains or thereabouts to its junction with the Esplanade, and continuing thence south westward in precisely the same direction and in a straight line to the sea. 7 THE SECOND SCHEDULE The territory to be dissevered from the said New Parish of Saint Andrew, Jersey, and to be annexed to the New Parish of All Saints, Jersey, in the said Island and in the said Diocese, being: - All that other portion of the said New Parish of Saint Andrew, Jersey, which is bounded upon the west by the sea, upon the south by the portion of the same New Parish which is described in the First Schedule, upon the north east partly by the said Parish of Saint Helier, and partly by the said New Parish of All Saints, Jersey, and upon the remaining side, that is to say, upon the north west, by an imaginary line commencing upon the boundary which divides the said New Parish of All Saints, Jersey, from the said New Parish of Saint Andrew, Jersey,at the junction of the road called West Park Avenue with the road called Cheapside, and extending thence south westward along the middle of Cheapside for a distance of 6½ chains or thereabouts to its junction with Pierson Road and extending thence south westward along the middle of Pierson Road for a distance of 10 chains or thereabouts to its junction with the Esplanade, and continuing thence south westward in precisely the same direction and in a straight line to the sea. AND WHEREAS drafts of the said Scheme or Representation have been transmitted to the Patrons and to the Incumbents of the Cures affected by the arrangements which are contemplated by such Scheme or Representation and such Patrons and Incumbents have respectively signified their assent thereto: AND WHEREAS the said Scheme or Representation has been approved by His Majesty in Council: NOW, THEREFORE, His Majesty, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, is pleased hereby to ratify the said Scheme or Representation and to order, as it is hereby ordered, that the same and every part thereof shall be effectual in law immediately from and after the time when this Order shall have been duly published in the London Gazette pursuant to the said Acts. AND HIS MAJESTY, by and with the like advice, is hereby pleased to direct that this Order be forthwith registered by the Registrar of the said Diocese of Winchester. M.P.A.
