Note from the Pastor: Distracted and disconnected. That describes how many of us feel about our relationship with the Lord. That was Martha s struggle. Here was the Lord of Glory in her living room and Martha s sister, Mary, was sitting at the Lord s feet listening to Him while Martha busied herself with preparing the meal for her family, the Lord and His disciples. Nothing wrong with preparing a meal for the disciples. The Risen Christ did that on the Sea of Galilee in John 21. Jesus was certainly speaking about eternal things and Mary was using her temporal gift of time to invest it to hear of eternal things from the lips of her Lord. Then there was Martha. She was distracted with all her temporal preparations from the eternal Voice of the Lord. Why do Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only ONE THING is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:1-2 so many of us feel disconnected from the eternal Voice of our Savior? He is speaking, but we are distracted by all of our temporal voices: ipods, FaceBook, 2/7 news, sports, video games, television, radios, cell phones, and e- mail. All of the temporal voices are drowning out the Eternal Voice Who is speaking if we just had ears to hear. Let me challenge you to turn off all the temporal voices and invest in listening to the Eternal Voice Who longs to share intimate and eternal truths with you through His Word. This week you received from an usher a booklet called Unwrapped: A Christmas Story. Please read it, then give it to an unbelieving friend, associate, or family member and invite them to join you during this Advent/Christmas season to hear the Eternal Voice of God who will speak to their hearts and lives. Listening for His Voice! Tim MEN S BREAKFAST SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5 8 AM UNTIL 9:15 AM IN THE MAIN HALL What: Cost: A GREAT men s breakfast for all men & their sons Donation at the door Speakers: Tim Hanley & Steve Thomas Topic: Distracted, Disconnected, Disillusioned? Over the past two weeks, distracted, disconnected, and disillusioned are words I have heard men use to describe their lives and their own walks with God. Many men I know are running on empty. Come join us on Saturday, December 5 from 8 AM until 9:15 AM in the Main Hall to meet the Lord with some other men who are tired of living this way. You will be encouraged and challenged by our Lord as we meet with Him in His Word to challenge us to live out 2010 in His OVERFLOW! And guys, no matter their age, bring your sons if you have one! C H I L D R E N S O R N E R If you were at church Sunday you heard a sweet testimony to the Lord's grace as He acted in bringing Jimmy Denning to Himself when Jimmy was 70 years old! However, there is a better way! The Lord's preferred way is for children to come to Him through the leading of their parents as children! Why is it better you may ask? Well, it is better because the younger a child comes into a relationship with the Lord Jesus the sooner life is lived on a much more godly level, even from a child s perspective. In addition, the sooner a person comes into that relationship the less they will have to repent of and to learn to live life differently! Throughout the Bible parents are urged to teach their children in whatever situations they may be in. Oh parents, do teach your children about the Lord Jesus Christ and guide them into inviting Him into their lives, everybody will be blessed. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL June 20-25, 2010. Mark your calendars & volunteer now! We definitely need each of you. CHILDREN S CHOIR Lisette is working with the kids on the coming Christmas program. We would love for ALL of the children to be involved. Think about it music is the children s primary means of ministry to the church family and what a wonderful ministry that is!
