Roland Ex-Officio Thanksgiving Offering 2011 Over the river and through the woods to grandmother s house we go We sang this song, as we would travel for the large family g a t h e r i n g s a t Thanksgiving, and while I am sure that our parents may have t i r e d f r o m t h e seemingly endless refrain, it was an expression of our joy to be on the journey. Some family members traveled days so that we could all gather around one common table to celebrate many the blessings of the past year. Things have changed through the passing years and now I am the grandmother s house that is the Thanksgiving destination, but the motivation is the same. We will gather around one common table and celebrate the blessings that God has granted to us, both individually and as a family. This year our celebration will include the addition of another grandchild! Thanksgiving offering is one way that the people of the Church of the Nazarene gather at the common table of Christ. The World Evangelism Fund allows us to share the stories of our blessings and the faithfulness of God with our brothers and sisters around the world. Where are you going for Thanksgiving? Your Thanksgiving Offering will travel around the world, providing literature and in more than 90 languages, starting new churches, allowing missionaries to continue to fulfill the cause of Christ and adding more family around the banquet table of the Father. Give with the same measure that it has been give to you! Foot prints and Faith Promise Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen. Psalm 77:19 It is with this passage that the mission book Footprints on the Door closes, but it was the beginning for the annual Faith Promise event at the Bluffton Church of the Nazarene. Inspired by the book, NMI local president Mary Towne covered the wall outside the sanctuary with Rev. Laura High Hartford City 1402 W. Water St. Hartford City, IN 47348 (765) 348-0955 footprints. Two weeks prior to Faith Promise Sunday, the congregation had been encouraged to write on those footprints their name and the name of someone who had influenced their faith journey. Following the October 16 morning service, the Faith Promise cards were collected. After the amounts were tallied, the blessed news was received that the Faith Promise goal had been met! Faith Promise is one way that we can support missions and the name says it all. It is the result of prayerful conversation with God concerning what He would have them to give to ministries that go beyond those of the local church. Faith Promise has been part of the structure of missions giving for decades and it is an idea that works. Thank you to the Bluffton First Church of the Nazarene for their faithfulness and thank you to local NMI president Mary Towne and her team for a creative approach for Faith Promise! Just Received from Global Ministry Center NOTICE: The Global Ministry Center is in the process of transferring all our Web sites, including NMI s, to new servers. The migration of information is currently taking place and will be complete in the next few weeks. During the transition, some GMC Web sites may not be available or fully functional. Mailings, such as the Prayer Mobilization Line, may also be affected. If you are unable to access the NMI site go to www.nazarene.org. On the front page near the bottom, under Our Family of Websites click on the Nazarene Missions International link. If you still have problems, please call the NMI office at 913-577-2970. Please be in prayer with the staff at the GMC as this change takes place. Pray specifically that data will not be lost, that those working most closely with the transition will have skill and patience, and that the overall result will yield a functional and fiscally prudent Web system for the denominational headquarters. October 9 th -13 th, N o r t h e a s t e r n and Northwest I n d i a n a C h i l d r e n s Ministry leaders loaded up on a bus and headed to Kansas City, for Ignite 2011. Ignite is the annual denominational gathering for Local Children s Ministry Leaders. Together, NEI and NWI was the second largest district represented at Ignite. We had 15 individuals from 10 different churches attend. It was a wonderful time of remembering we are one team, in different cities, and on different districts, but all called to serve God, children and their families.
