Gardens of the Righteous: Class 29 The Garden of Striving Part 3 18 th January 2015 27 Rabi Awwal, 1435 A.H.
The Garden of Striving Striving is a garden because it gives us happiness. It is a garden when we struggle and strive for the one who appreciates it. We need to struggle and overcome our self to perform worship (Do the obligations and leave the sin). PAGE 1
Surah Ankaboot Ayah 99! If we strive for Allah, He guarantees that we will never be lost; Allah will guide us to the straight path. We all need to be guided to the straight path that will please Allah.! Then Allah tells us He will be with the good doers. This means when we struggle against ourselves Allah will guide us to his way. This is how we can be Muhsineen (good deeds) There is always a struggle when we need to achieve anything. The more we struggle, the more we achieve. This is true for matters of Duniya and Akhirah. It is best to direct our struggle towards Allah, as He is the one who appreciates our effort. PAGE 2
Ayat Al Mujahida The Ayat Al Mujahida are the Ayat in the Quran that are giving us the motivation for struggle. We will study the Ayat of the Quran that can encourage us for the Mujahida. Surah Hijr Ayah 99! Allah tells the Prophet SAW that he needs to dedicate himself to convey the message of Allah and turn away from whatever the disbelievers are saying.! Allah is telling him that He is sufficient for him. He will take care of the disbelievers who are mocking the Prophet SAW. These disbelievers associate partners with Allah. PAGE 3
! Allah is telling him that indeed He knows that the Prophet SAW s heart is getting tight when the people mock and make fun. Anyone who is not on the way of the truth does not like the followers of the truth. They use mockery to discourage the people from the right path.! Allah is telling him to not give up and continue to struggle. Allah advises the Prophet SAW to glorify the praises of Allah i.e. remove any negative thing about Allah and to increase in prayer. Here especially the Sujood is mentioned because in Sujood we are closest to Allah. The Prayer gives us the support! We should not give up and continue the way to Allah till death comes to us. We should not stop our struggle till the moment we die. Surah Muzzammil Ayah 8 Here we are told about accomplishing the best worship i.e. Night Prayer. Here Allah is telling the Prophet SAW to stand up in the night prayer for half the night or more than half of the night (command for the Prophet SAW). PAGE 4
Allah is telling the Prophet SAW to recite the Quran in the darkness of the night. He is telling the Prophet SAW to remember the name of Allah and devote himself to Allah completely. Remembrance of Allah and devotion to Him helps to struggle and to do Mujahida. Surah Az- Zalzalah, Ayah 6,7 and 8 These Ayat are about the Day of Judgment. The remembrance of the Day of Judgment is a good way to motivate us to do the good and abstain from evil. On the Day of Judgment all the deeds that we did in the Duniya will be shown to us.! The Duniya is the time to do the deeds.! The Day of Judgment is the time of the result. On the Day of Judgment whatever we did will appear to us in front of our eyes! Whoever will do a weight of an atom of good; he will see it on the Day of Judgment. PAGE 5
! Whoever will do a weight of an atom of evil; He will see it on the Day Judgment. This is a motivating Ayah for Jihad, as we will see all out deeds on the Day of Judgment so we need to make our struggle for the right deeds Surah Muzzammil Ayah 20 This Ayat is telling us our good deeds do not go to waste. We don t see the result instantly for the good deeds but I need to believe that whatever I am sending forward for myself, I will find it preserved with Allah. Allah preserves our good deeds and also multiplies its reward. This is why it is worthy to do good deeds. The reward for every good deed is multiplied by min 10 and max 700. This is encouraging us to make struggle against ourselves. PAGE 6
Hadith that encourage Mujahida Now we will study the hadith of the Prophet SAW that encourage us to do the Mujahida. Hadith 1 This is Hadith Qudsi i.e. a divine hadith of the Prophet SAW where he is narrating on behalf of Allah. PAGE 7
This hadith is telling us about Auliya Allah i.e. the close companions of Allah. In this hadith we are told about the privileges they enjoy with Allah. We need to struggle to be a Wali Allah in order to enjoy these advantages with Allah. 1. Allah declares war against their enemies. Allah will protect his close companions by declaring war against anyway who tries to harm them either verbally or physically 2. Allah will answer the Dua as of Wali Allah 3. If the close companions of Allah seek refuge with Allah, He will grant them. How can we be Wali Allah? How can one achieve this level of Wali Allah? 1. First and foremost we need to look at our obligations and take care of fulfilling all our obligations ( e.g. Obligatory prayers ) 2. Then as a next step we need to do the voluntary deed (Voluntary prayers etc.) in order to draw ourselves closer to Allah. This is the key to be Wali Allah. To fulfill the obligations and voluntary deeds till Allah loves us What is the consequence when Allah loves a person? 1. Allah will be his ears. This means Allah will make the person only hear good things. Allah is guarding his ears. He will not hear any haram or anything that can create doubt 2. Allah will be his eyes. Allah will protect his eyes from sins 3. Allah will be his hands. Allah will protect him from earning the haram 4. Allah will be his legs. Allah will protect his steps from going towards the haram In short Allah will protect all his limbs and will guide him to do all the good and abstain from sins. We cannot see the result of our struggle for Allah now. We need to be a servant of Allah and keep moving. Allah will not forget our effort. We only need to correct our intention and keep moving. Allah loves the Wali Allah to the extent that Allah says that He is not hesitant about doing anything in the universe except to take the soul of Wali Allah because everyone hates death. This shows us how much love Allah has for Wali Allah PAGE 8
This is why we need to struggle for Allah alone, as He is the one who appreciates our struggle. When we do this we will have so much goodness that we cannot even imagine. PAGE 9
