For all those who through our thought, word or deed, or our omission of thought, word and deed feel abandoned and unloved. May we be a community of reconciliation and peace. May we accept all people, no matter who they are, no matter where they ve been, no matter what their story is. May we be Christ for others. May all be welcomed here. Parish Mission Statement The mission of the Catholic communities of St. Blaise and St. Brendan is to be a people united in the Eucharist and dedicated to spreading the Good News of God s saving love to all. We seek to encourage the full and active participation of all God s children and be a place where they can come to know, love, and serve God. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we give witness to the teachings of Jesus Christ by actively living the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, thereby being signs of God s love in the world. Trust in the tender mercy of God! ~Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time~ Did Jesus ever have to pay rent or a monthly mortgage? Does He know the high cost of living in the Northeast in the 21st century? How can He say don t worry? Jesus is telling us to have our priorities in order and trust in Him, But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. His is not saying quit your job or buy a Lamborghini. Seek first the kingdom of God means putting God in the center of our lives. How we relate to family, friends, co-workers, should flow from this. Are our words and actions ordered to what is good and true? The song Don t worry, be happy has a very good message. We have been saved by the Son of God. He will not abandon us now - not today, not tomorrow, not ever. Give thanks for this.
Recently, many of you received a letter from Cardinal Sean requesting your support of the 2017 Catholic Appeal. Our parish directly benefits from the 50 ministries supported by the Appeal. We thank all those parishioners who have already pledged; if you have not already done so, please prayerfully consider making an early pledge. Thank you!
