In e midst of winter, we share and celebrate God's presence in many ways... February 6 ECF Communion Service 2:30 p.m. Our you will prepare Super Bowl Subs on February 4...orders have been received...we will also be collecting gently used children's and you's books, along wi new coloring books and crayons for e Verona Food Pantry... We turn from e wonder of e light of Epiphany to e Ashes and examination of Lent. This year, we will host Ash Wednesday worship in our Sanctuary at Christ Church, February 14, 2018... We will examine Lament as one of e emes of Lent, and as we do so, we will seek to find where we can share our lament wi God and honestly move beyond it as we seek to follow Jesus is Lent...where is Jesus calling you to move beyond lament to sharing e hope and grace of God in e midst of life? 2018 HEALTH KITS March will again be e mon in which we collect items for Heal Kits. Please join us in is worwhile mission. Heal Kits provide basic necessities to people who have been forced to leave eir homes because of human conflict or natural disaster. For each kit, please include e following. (Individual items may also be donated.) 1 hand towel 15 x 28 to 16 x 32 (kitchen, cleaning and microfiber towels not acceptable) 1 washclo 1 wide-too comb NO pocket combs or picks, please.) 1 nail clipper or toenail clipper 1 ba size soap (3 oz. and larger sizes only NO IVORY soap due to moisture content Do not remove soap from original packaging) Lorie Ray Completes Her First Prayer Shawl Our Prayer Shawl Mission group will meet February 8 and e 22nd at in e Thomas Room. As each prayer shawl is knitted or crocheted at home, e maker says some prayers for e intended recipient. Each finished prayer shawl is en passed around our circle and each member says a silent prayer over e shawl. All prayer shawls are freely given to persons in need. 1 toobrush (Adult size only - do not remove from original packaging) 10 adhesive bandages ¾ to 1 size We invite anyone who enjoys knitting or crocheting to join us for an evening of fellowship and prayer. We have plenty of yarn and patterns for e shawls. 1 plastic bag (one gallon size sealable bags only) $2.00 to purchase toopaste and cover cost of shipping. We will begin to collect ese beginning of March. There will be a box in e back of e sanctuary. Please contact William and Gail Collins if you have any questions Ash Wednesday Tri-Church Worship on February 14 First UM Church, Oneida, St. Paul's UMC, Oneida and Christ Church, Sherrill will worship togeer right here at Christ Church. The ree choirs will be singing togeer, Ashes and Holy Communion will be administered. Please let us know of anyone who might need e warm and comfort of a prayer shawl and we will make sure at ey receive one. Mary Bailey, Chair. A SINCERE THANK YOU Dear Church, I would like to sincerely ank each and every one of you for e great kindness extended to e Connie Hood family. The memorial service was beautiful and e building looked beautiful also. The hospitality service of wonderful food and caring, most appreciated you are so well organized! Also, ank you Bonnie Unswor for your talents in creating such a beautiful prayer shawl. st As a little background, I had an accident October 21 in our woods. The accident left me wi a nasty broken leg and a crushed ankle. After seven days in e hospital, two operations and all your prayers, I should walk again February 6. Needless to say, it has been a boring winter. I am used to being out and about and at was cut short for a while. I did see Tulip do her walk at your Nativity from e truck! She loves at so much and she is such a DIVA! Thanks again. Mike Dunn, Tulip's Dad GRANDBABY NEWS! Congratulations to Doug and Pickie Tudman on e bir of eir new granddaughter, Penelope Marie Tudman, born January 4 in Clayton, Nor Carolina. She weighed 8 pounds 2 ounces and is e daughter of Bradley and Suzanne Tudman. Great-Grandma is our very own Jean Tudman. Congratulations to Barb Kinsella and family on e bir of her newest grandbaby, Edie Lou Parker, born in Vienna, Austria, January 16, weighing 9 pounds 7 ounces. Edie's parents are Rob and Colleen Kinsella Parker. LOVING BLANKET MISSION We have already started our Loving Blanket Mission. There are blanket kits and instructions available on a table in e Thomas Room. All completed blankets will be dedicated Sunday May 6 during e worship service. If you take a blanket kit, please return e finished blanket by May 6. There are two kinds of blanket kits available: ose at contain a piece of flannel, a coordinating fabric and batting at need to be machine sewn and tied wi embroidery floss and ose at contain two pieces of fleece and need only to be cut and tied (no sewing required). All blankets are donated to e following: The Neighborhood Center Day Care in Utica, e Hospice Children's Bereavement program in New Hartford and e Community Action Partnership (CAP) in Wampsville. SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE DINNER Many anks to each of you for e lovely luncheon after Cynia's service. She loved each of you and enjoyed getting togeer wi you. It is e responsibility of each of us to check lights and doors before leaving e church. It takes very little time to ensure at e building is secure before you leave. In e past, we have discovered individuals loitering behind e church. If doors are left open, it would be very easy for anyone to walk into e church and potentially cause damage. PLEASE make an effort to turn off lights and lock doors.
