This was a sad time for the people of kraine and all of ussia. The government leaders would not let people go to church, read the Bible or talk about esus. nyone who did these things could be put in prison, lose their job or be punished. Then something happened! The leaders of the government were fi red and Christians began to have more freedom. Bible colleges and schools were opened, new churches were started and Bible study groups began to meet. People began telling the story of esus to their friends and families. s Christians in kraine learned more about esus, they knew they wanted to go other places and tell people about im. We can be like esus. e will help us if we ask im. aily life for people in Kazakhstan has changed a lot over the past years. ost Kazakhs grew up in a country where they were not allowed to read the Bible, go to church, learn about esus or tell others about esus. That means that moms, dads, children and grandparents in Kazakhstan have never heard the Bible stories you and I know. Several years ago the government leaders were fi red. The new government allowed Southern Baptist missionaries to come live in the country so they could tell people about esus and start new churches. Sadly, many of these churches closed because some people did not want to learn more about esus or being a Christian. They were focusing on money. il was discovered in Kazakhstan and many people became rich. Because they have so much money, the people want to buy more stuff. They are buying big homes, expensive cars and clothes. They think the more they have, the more they will be like esus. nd some are not making good choices. owever, there is good news! lot of people have come to believe in esus. There are now more than 13,000 believers. ore new churches are being started. ur workers there are teaching people how they can be more like esus as well as teaching them to share esus with their families and friends. She was so happy she told her whole family about esus. t fi rst they thought she was crazy. fter years of talking to them about esus and praying for them, Gulia s husband, children and other family members have come to believe in esus. The family also shares esus with people at their family business. Their workers know that Gulia and her family are not the same people. They see that Gulia and her family are like esus loving, kind and helpful. They also know that Gulia prays for them. ur workers in Kazakhstan say that when one person in a family becomes a Christian, the other family members also become Christians. ead the Scripture verse. Because Gulia knows about esus, she is able to tell her family, friends and business workers about im. ow about you? ow can you tell your family and friends about esus? Greet the children. ave your Bible open to the Scripture verse. ave you ever been so nervous your voice did not make a sound when you tried to speak? aksud* is a Christian who lives in the country of zbekistan. aksud is nervous many times. In fact, his heart jumps with fright every time his telephone rings. Why? Because he believes esus is God s Son and wants to tell others about im. But zbekistan leaders say believing in esus is wrong and causes family problems. Family beliefs are very important in zbekistan. any Christians there do not feel they can tell people about esus. They are afraid government leaders may ask too many questions, and they could get in trouble. When aksud nervously answers his telephone, he is happy and relieved to hear the voice of a Christian friend. aksud praises esus every time a person on the phone or at the door is a Christian friend. Several years ago, aksud was taken from his home for a whole day. Government leaders and the police questioned him about his family and friends, about his belief in esus and about other Christians living in his area. They let him go, but now aksud lives in fear the same thing will happen again. Full-time workers who live in zbekistan and work with the zbek people say the threat of police and government leaders does not stop people from becoming Christians. ore and more zbek people are coming to church. The people do not become believers quickly because government leaders have scared them. But esus is helping people know they can trust Christians who tell them about esus. ead the Scripture verse. Workers who live in zbekistan are seeing believers take a stand for esus. When Christian leaders are questioned about their families, faith and other believers they boldly say they love esus. zbekistan Christians are praying for each other. They are praying esus will help 100 people become new Christian leaders. While aksud and other Christians in zbekistan try to be bold about their love for esus, they still are nervous when the phone rings or there is a knock at the door. Sometimes they have to whisper to tell others about esus. Whether your voice is loud or a whisper, esus will help you tell others about im. ust as our Scripture verse stated, you never stop telling about esus. ou can give to the ottie oon Christmas ffering to help the people in zbekistan. our money helps send workers to tell people about esus. our money can also help buy books about esus, more Bibles and supplies to start new churches.
