A Note from Fr. Lawrence: Sometimes in life, things just don't go our way - these things are not what we planned, what we wanted, or even anything close to the outcome we desire. Sometimes this happens just by careless mistakes or indifference, and other times it is by willful action. Today's Gospel has Jesus call out "Repent, and believe in the Gospel." You might be thinking, "Whoa, Father, Lent doesn't start for a few more weeks!" And yes, we will hear this again on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 14th - so preplan and give those chocolates early!) We are always needing to examine our lives and see what is keeping us from God. We need to turn towards God and allow him into our lives, so let's do that now - today. Like the people of Nineveh, they heard the charge against them and how they turned from God and they proclaimed a fast, prayed, and converted. They left behind what was bad, and moved towards God. God responds by moving towards them. So whatever is in our heart that keeps us from God, lets ask for the grace to move past it. This will be a work day in the church. We need get the social hall cleaned up and cleared out. Much of the stuff that is in there and is not used. We need to organize better, and make sure what we have is in good repair, and something that needs to be stored. So, if your ministry has something that it needs, please make sure it is clearly marked and I know about it. On the 27th, anything left will either be: 1 - Cleaned, maintained, and kept 2 - Sent to the thrift store 3 - Sent to the dumpster Come out and help us.
