A Message from Our Pastor Dear People of St. Patrick Parish: As we come to Mass today, do we let God show Himself to us? Do we see the Lord, the Most High over all the earth - Psalm 97? Is God real to us? Do we see God in all the people in church praying and singing with us? Do the words of God spoken to Peter, James an John on the mountain speak to us? This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him. Did we really listen to the Gospel that Father proclaimed, the words and teachings of Jesus Christ? Is this experience of Jesus present to us in receiving Holy Communion? The three Apostles were afraid but Jesus came to them, touched them and said, Rise, and do not be afraid. Do we let our fears disappear in our trust in Jesus? All of this is to help prepare us to see God the Father, Jesus our Savior and the Holy Spirit at the second coming of Jesus to lead us, body and soul, into the kingdom. If we have chosen wisely, what a great day, if we have chosen badly, well, let us not let that happen. Love God, let God love us and let us love the other people that God created and loves and pray that they will live their lives under the great Commandment, LOVE God and your neighbor. God Bless, Fr. Larry Young Pastor of St. Patrick Church

EYEWITNESSES Today, the Feast of the Transfig ration of the Lord, is a day of eyewit ess accounts. The first, a vision repor ed by the prophet Daniel, was well known to Jesus and his apostles. The vision account was wri en in quite mystical and fig rative lang age. It is a vision of heaven, powerf l and memorable. There are flames of fire, bur ing wheels, the Ancient One, and a Son of Man. Clearly, Daniel saw something. But was it a dream? Was it real? Was it merely a clever my h? Peter wants no such conf sion about his vision! We are told in Ma hew s Gospel what he and his iends James and John saw when they went up on the mountain with Jesus one day. Jesus war ed the three wit esses to tell no one until the Son of Man has been raised om the dead (Ma hew 17:9). Lest readers of one of the Gospels discount the stor or simply write it off as a pious my h, Peter gives his own account of the Transfig ration of Jesus in his second le er to the church. He writes with authorit, as an eyewit ess. He repor s this message om God concer ing Jesus: This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased, and he assures us that the message is altogether reliable (2 Peter 1:17, 19). Copy ight J. S.
