FROM PASTOR FLORY "A Heart for Jesus!" The Lenten theme for this year is: "A Heart for Jesus!". Thankfully and gratefully, we all know by heart and God's grace, the words to John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life". (and what it means to us.) This thought alone should move us to action for the rest of our lives but we need those little reminders to spurs us into those actions. Our Lenten season starts on Valentine's Day, February 14th, with our Ash Wednesday Service at 7:00 p.m. with communion. A wonderful little action to get us thinking about love and what it means for us and others in our lives. We need to remember St. Paul telling us in Romans 8:32, "He Who did spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?" This should remind us that we belong to the Lord. He is our life, our salvation, and the reason that we know about love and what it means to us and our family. We need to tell them, we need to tell our friends, we need to tell the whole world that God loves us and takes care of us! Circle the calendar, make it a part of the plans for the family, plan on being there to celebrate with the family of God that we appreciate everything, all, and being a part of God's plan for the whole world that He sent His Son to BE our Savior! And it is not only for Ash Wednesday, but we will have the next six weeks to remind ourselves that we need "A Heart for Jesus" and we can continue to share that constantly with our family, our friends, our neighbors, and YES, even, strangers the wonderful good news of the Gospel! God the Holy Spirit wants everybody to hear about it! So during those six weeks invite them, and if they see you and start to turn away that means you are getting to them because the devil is trying the get them to run away. As pastor and members, this is an exciting time of the year for us all. It is easy to continue to tell others about our LOVE for Jesus. "A Heart for Jesus," is exactly what we all need to tell each other. I pray that we together will continue to tell our community about the need for God's love and that we share God's love with one another. Your brother in Christ, Pastor Flory
