It is impossible to list all of them here, but they range from subsidies to our Catholic high schools and marriage preparation programs to our outreach to the immigrant communities throughout the region. Cardinal Ritter Institute, the agency that assists the elderly in our area, as well Birthright and Kenrick-Glennon Seminary all receive some level of support from our generosity. Last weekend at all of our Masses, Dr. John Gresham, the Academic Dean from Kenrick-Glennon Seminary gave a powerful talk on the value of the ACA which supports so many ministries and agencies that bring healing and hope to those in need. Of all the special collections that are dear to my heart, this is one of them. I try each year to increase my donation to the effort. No gift is too small, and so we ask you to take a few minutes to make your pledge and sign your Annual Catholic Appeal pledge card after Mass this weekend. Pledge cards will also be available next weekend after all of our Masses. Each year that I have served as pastor, I am moved by the generosity of our parish. I hope by the grace of God that we can be generous to this valuable Appeal again this year. God has been so very good to us, in our gratitude for what we have received, we should be generous to the least of our brothers and sisters. Thank you in advance for your generosity. God s blessings to you and your family, M -A-M B Meal-A-Month bags will be collected next weekend in the lower lobby before all the Masses. Suggested items are: Canned Meat Canned Fish Stew Pasta Sauce Powdered Potatoes Jelly Jello /Box Pudding Corn Bread Mix Cake Mix Our donations of food help the St. Wenceslaus Food Pantry. Thank you for your support. Peace Prayer of St. Francis Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.

Holiness as a Mark of the Church Holiness is one of the 4 marks of the Church (one, holy, catholic, and apostolic). The Church is holy because her founder, Jesus Christ, is holy. Christ and the Holy Spirit sanctify the Church. In Ephesians 5, Paul tells us that Christ gave Himself up for the Church that she might be holy and without blemish. As we learned last week, although we are all sinners, holiness is the vocation of each and every one of the Church s members. www.archstl.org/dynamic. A C A S U W M 2-3 M 9-10 U C P U C. W.F. In today s reading from the Acts of the Apostles, we are told, The Church throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria was at peace (Acts 9:31). It was being built up with help from the Holy Spirit. How do we invite others to follow Jesus? How do we build up a Church of peace today? The first line of the second reading gives us a guide: Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth (1 John 3:18). We reveal the face of Christ and draw others to Him, by the way we live our lives. Jesus teaches that He is the true vine and we are the branches (John 15:5). If we remain in him, we will bear much fruit (John 15:5). Jesus, the true vine, asks us to be an extension of His life. The Annual Catholic Appeal is one way that we can bear fruit in the world and witness our faith in Jesus. Together, we offer hope and joy to the least of our brothers and sisters building up a community of Christ s peace. John s words come to us on this day when the Gospel passage presents us with the great image of the vine and the branches. Jesus uses the image as a warning to those who have begun to distance themselves from the way of the Lord. One of the ways this happens is when we love God and others in word or speech instead of in deed and truth. What does it mean for us to remain in Christ? In an extension of the metaphor, the Lord gives us an example. If we remain in him, we will bear much fruit. As the branches, we draw strength from Christ who is the vine. This strength enables us to bear fruit to do the work of true discipleship. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. "A W H H " S. H I P S R R 2015-2016 S Y R PSR O M 29. A M 29. Welcome to the 2015-2016 PSR school year at Holy Infant Parish. We look forward to working closely with you to help provide a Christ-filled school year for all the PSR students of the parish. Please know that as parents you are invaluable to this program. We recognize that you are the first teachers of your children and that no one knows them better or loves them more than you do. It is our goal, therefore, to work with you to support the faith formation of your child. The spirit of this ongoing program is to empower our children to live out their baptismal call and give witness to the Gospel by fostering their love of Jesus Christ. The Holy Infant PSR program accomplishes this in active cooperation with the children s parents who are the primary religious educators. We strive to nurture each child and each family in the knowledge and love of God in order to enrich their faith life and to enable them to live out their call to stewardship in the community. Our program is designed to assist parents by offering weekly instruction to children in grades first through eighth by catechists who teach and witness the teachings and life of Jesus. In our program the children are educated in the Catholic tradition, Scripture, and Church teachings in areas such as respect for life and social justice. Our PSR program attempts to balance the religious instruction (message) with the experiences of Catholic community, service, and worship throughout the year. It attempts to meet the needs and understanding of all children and families, recognizing that there are varying degrees of catechetical background, understanding, and experiences. We strive to inform our children and families in the basics of the Catholic faith; assist the parents in forming the children s ongoing spiritual development; and finally to be an instrument in transforming these children into Catholic Christian citizens with a strong faith on which to base their future spiritual growth, and to enable them to be evangelizers to the communities in which they will live. All that is accomplished by the grace of the Holy Spirit. We do charge a fee in order to provide the best catechetical program for your children, but we must stress that we want all children to be able to avail themselves of a religious education and will work with parents who may be struggling financially to accomplish that. A parent or guardian must come to register his/her child(ren); and if you have a child entering first grade or are new to the program, we ask that you provide us a copy of your child s Baptismal certificate and birth certificate. You may register on Monday as we have class from 4-8 p.m. or you may call for an appointment and time that works best for you. Classes are filled on a first-come first-serve basis. Registering on time will allow you a choice of class times and usually our 4:30 p.m. session fills up quickly. After the 29 th of May 2015 we will be unable to guarantee you a time preference. The following are the fees for registration, tuition, books: Holy Infant Registered Parishioners: One Child - $250 Two Children - $370 Three or More Children - $460 Non-Registered Parishioners: One Child - $340 Two Children - $550 Three Children or More - $730 A $100.00 family non-refundable down payment is due at the time of registration. Please see registration form for payment options. Registration forms including financial agreement and payments must be completed by May 29, 2015 to avoid a $50.00 late fee/family. A $25 change fee will be charged to change sessions after initial registration. We must stress again that we want all children to be able to avail themselves of a religious education and will work with parents who may be struggling financially to accomplish that. Bless us as we look forward to continued joy in the ministry of catechesis. Yours in Christ, Patricia Foley Director of Religious Education & PSR Director Holy Infant Parish 636-227-0802 Option 3 pfoley@holyinfantballwin.org Mary Willett, Administrative Assistant psroffice@holyinfantballwin.org
