Welcome to First Worship! We extend a welcome as broad as the outstretched arms of God, who calls us to be here together to rejoice in God s glorious presence. Welcome to children of all ages to all the children of God, each one of us. If you are an old friend or here for the first time, we welcome you. Our worship is an intergenerational experience and we want children to feel fully included. Children are welcome to pick up an activity bag and to bring snacks to their seats. We remember that worship offers us all a special place to be with God. In this space we talk a little more softly and walk a little more quietly. We are listening for God. Last year this event raised over $18,000 which went to our church and other charitable organizations. To make this happen, we need volunteers (women, men, and especially youth!) to help the Village Churchwomen on the following short jobs:

Set up: Today, Sunday, November 1 after Second Worship to set up the rooms downstairs (1 to 1 ½ hours). During the sale: On Saturday, November 7 there are two shifts: 8:45 11:00am and 11:00am to 1pm. We need two security people on both shifts. We need two door people first shift, one door person the second shift to sell entrance tickets. These roles can be seated and are low physical effort. Take down: On Saturday, November 7 at 1:30pm after the sale ends, to take down the tables & racks, and to help clean out the area (about 1 ½ hours). If you are available and would be willing to contribute your time please contact Mark Lenci (617-515- 8050 or MarkLenci@verizon.net). A couple hours of your time will make a difference and we promise it will be an enjoyable experience with other Village Church members! Rummage Sale Donations Drop off starting after noon today Best selling items to donate are clothing, men s, women s and children s, linens, paperback books, jewelry and housewares. We do not accept sporting goods, large children s toys, pillows, picture frames, computers or tvs. Donations may be dropped off after noon on Sunday November 1st until Wednesday afternoon. We cannot accept donations after that time. Money raised goes to nonprofit organizations. A large pledge is given to the church and scholarships are made available to those going to seminary. We need volunteers during the week and for the sale itself. If you have questions or can volunteer, contact Bev Lenci: Beverly.lenci@verizon.net. Environmental Ministry News MA Interfaith Coalition for Climate Action Rally As a follow-up to the event on the Papal Encyclical two weeks ago, the resulting "MA Interfaith Coalition for Climate Action" will hold a rally at the State House on Tuesday November 10, 10am to 1pm. We'll start by gathering at the State House steps, followed by meetings with legislators. All are invited to participate. Come for whatever time allows. The five issues of a clean and just future for our Commonwealth which will be the subject of the legislative visits are: Lifting the caps on solar energy and expanding community solar Investing in robust off-shore wind development Ensuring that energy efficiency programs are serving all communities in MA Fixing existing natural gas leaks Rejecting public subsidies for new natural gas pipelines To become familiar with the details of the legislative issues, it would be useful (but not mandatory) to attend one of the following training sessions: Sunday, November 1, 3 to 5pm at Temple Beth Elohim, 10 Bethel Rd. Wellesley OR Tuesday, November 3, 7 to 9pm, at Temple Israel, 477 Longwood Ave. Boston, off the Longwood Green Line stop.
