saint FRancis xavier parish The River Jordan January 14, 2018 Come, and you will see. ~ John 1: 35-42 Our Mission Statement St. Francis Xavier is a Catholic- Jesuit parish ignited by the Eucharist To Pray, Serve, Do Justice, and Love.
Thank You. As we enter 2018, we can t help but stop and thank our amazing, generous community! Thank you to all of those generous individuals from St. Francis Xavier Church that picked tags off of trees for the Giving Tree, adopting Mountain Home families and filling their Christmas wishes this year. There is an envelope in your packet for the weekend of January 21st for the Holy Family House. Our parish along with the owners, Mark and Jeri Tschida, helps Tosha and Kasse and their three children, who are refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the rent and utilities of the house. Tosha and Kasse are both employed and are very grateful to be living in the Holy Family House. By helping them out, we are providing a leg up as they settle into life in the US, far from their home where they were displaced and had to spend several years in the Nyarugusu Refugee Camp in Tanzania. They were brought to Missoula by the International Rescue Committee last year. Thank you for your generosity. 2
Items of Note: Eucharistic Minster & Sacristan Training We will be having an in-depth Eucharistic minister training in the church immediately following the 10am Mass Today Sunday, January 14th. If you are interested in performing this very important ministry, or if you would like a "refresher" course, please join us. Also, with our busy parish, we need a few more trained sacristans for our weekend liturgies. The sacristan prepares the church for Mass, makes sure everything is put away in its proper place after Mass, and locks up the building before leaving. This training will also take place after the 10am Mass on the 14th. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email Rachael Beck at 541-6040 or rbeck@sfxmissoula.org. The Blood Mobile will be here on Monday, February 5th from 8:30-1. To register, please go to www.redcrossblood.org and use the code stfrancis to find our drive. You may also call Pam in the parish office at 541-6041 for help. Eucharistic Adoration If you are interested in participating in Eucharistic Adoration and would like to commit to an hour of prayer in the church, please contact Kathy Kaiser 406.251.3704. In the busyness of our lives, what could be more important than the health of our marriages? Our dedicated group of Sponsor Couples who minister to those who come to our parish preparing for marriage are presenting a Marriage Wellness Check-up Retreat on Friday evening, February 9th and all day Saturday, February 10th. We all go to our doctors or dentists for a check up - why not a check up for our marriages? The retreat is open to the first twenty couples who register by calling Pam in the parish office at 541-6041. Meals will be provided and the cost of the retreat is $60 per couple. Vamos a celebrar la Misa en español el domingo el 14 de Enero a las 6:00 pm en la parroquia de St. Anthony. Our next Mass in Spanish will be at 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 14th at St. Anthony Parish. Todos están bienvenidos! 3
