Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We come to the final Mysteries of the Rosary, but not the end for the mission of Christ continues in our live for he tells us like he told the first disciples to be his witnesses to the ends of the earth. Through or prayers and actions we try to continue Christ s work in our world today. Christ does not want us to keep our religion as something private that has no impact on the world today. Christ wants us as St James tells us it is by my deeds that I will show you my faith James 3:18 October is the month of the rosary and these reflections are a reminder to us to try and say the rosary during this month and maybe someone would like to start praying the rosary in Church around 9 am on weekdays during October and at 6.15 pm on Wednesdays. 1. The Resurrection The Son of Man must suffer greatly.. and be killed and on the third day be raised. Throughout his ministry Jesus told the disciples what would and must happen, but it was so foreign that even though they had seen the miracles the wonders they did not hear it. How many times do we not hear things, how many times do we miss the wonder of it all? And very early on the first day of the week they came to the tomb. 2. The Ascension And then you will be my witnesses and indeed to earth s remotest end he was lifted up and a cloud took him from their sight That is why missionaries from the beginnings of the Church have gone to the remotest areas to proclaim the Good News. It is still the challenge of today. Read the Acts of the Apostles to hear the missionary work of the early church. 3. The descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles. After the Ascension the disciples stayed together in the Upper Room and although they were Joyful at what had happened they were still afraid. It all changed with the coming of the Holy Spirit. No longer were they confined to the Upper room, they were out in the crowds proclaiming Jesus as Lord. Some young people today receive confirmation at the request of their parents or grandparents and then stop going to church. NO if you do not want to go to church DO NOT RECEIVE AND BETRAY A SACRAMENT for the sake of appearances. Confirmation is an invite to go out and proclaim Christ not deny Him. Allow the grace of the Spirit to act in you and with you as the early disciples did. Go out to the whole world 4. The Assumption of our Lady From the earliest times of the Church it was believe that Mary had been taken up into heaven. In the various communities of Christians that used different expressions to express that belief, (the falling asleep of Mary) but it was not till 1950 that Pope Pius proclaimed it a dogma of the church. It is Mary that says Yes to God s plan, It is Mary that asks Jesus to perform the first miracle, it is Mary that is with Him on the journey to the end. Jesus does not leave the faithful behind. He takes His mother with Him. 5. Mary crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth It is fitting that we honor Mary as Mother and Queen. She was the one that Yes and was greeted by the prayer we use all the time in the rosary Hail Mary full of grace.. Let us ask her to pray with us and for us as we Journey in faith. Pray for me as I pray for you, Fr Karl K of C Ladies Auxiliary All women of our parish are invited to our next meeting October 19, @ 7:30pm in the lower level of the church.
